Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher, Mike Fiers, put on a show again last night against the Cincinnati Reds. The 27 year old right hander is beginning to look more and more like a true ace as the season progresses.
Fiers went eight innings and only gave up three hits and one run in a 3-1 win over the Reds. This masterful performance follows a shutout win over the Washington Nationals on July 27th, in which Fiers registered nine strikeouts and gave up four hits in six-and-one-third innings pitched.
On August 1st in a meeting against the Houston Astros, Fiers went six innings striking out six batters, giving up eight hits, and allowing two runs. The result was a win for Fiers and the Brewers.
In 80 innings pitched this season, Fiers (6-4) has a 1.80 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 80 strikeouts.
Fantasy players are starting to take notice of Fiers ability as a viable starter. Definitely pick him up if available in your league. His next start is scheduled for Monday, August 13th against the Colorado Rockies in Denver.
