Found June 30, 2012 on Fox Sports Arizona:
With several of the Arizona Diamondbacks' veteran starters either on the disabled list or underachieving, rookie Wade Miley has not only emerged as the staff's unlikely anchor, but also as one of the top pitchers in the league. Miley seeks to become the NL's first rookie with 10 wins before the All-Star break in a decade Saturday night when he, Aaron Hill and the Diamondbacks continue their series in Milwaukee against the Brewers. Miley (9-3, 2.19 ERA), who maintains rookie status after throwing 40 innings for the Diamondbacks (39-37) in 2011, has pitched well all season but has really hit his stride in recent weeks, lasting seven innings or longer while giving up exactly one run in each of his last four starts. He was dominant against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, limiting them to three hits and one walk while striking out seven in a 5-1 victory. The left-hander's ERA ranks fourth in the majors, making him a prime candidate to represent Arizona at the All-Star game...

Minor league report: Marte takes big step

PHOENIX Alfredo Marte was the best player in the Southern League All-Star Game two weeks ago, according to the judges. He had two hits, a double and a run-scoring single, and also scored a run in the first three innings to help the South all-stars to their first victory in seven years. In a game peppered with Diamondbacks prospects from Class AA Mobile David Nick, Matt Davidson...

From his pregame stretching routine on, Trevor Bauer’s MLB debut was odd (vids)

Much-heralded, highly-touted right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer made his major league debut on Thursday night when the Arizona Diamondbacks faced the Atlanta Braves. Overall, it was a decent performance, although not remarkable (4 IP, 5H, 3ER, 3BB, 3K). What was remarkable, however, was the two oddball scenes that played out leading up to and immediately after [...]

Arizona's Hill doubles his cycling pleasure

Call him Aaron History. Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill became the second player in major league history to hit for the cycle twice in a season when he repeated in a 9-3 victory at Milwaukee on Friday. It was the second time Hill had done it in 11 days and the first double-cycle since Babe Herman had two for the Brooklyn Robins in 1931. "He's been locked in lately...

Sweltering heat shortens Bauer's start for Arizona

Precocious right-hander Trevor Bauer bobbed and weaved through his major-league debut Thursday, getting in and mostly out of trouble in his four innings of work in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 3-2 victory over Atlanta, a game Chris Young won with a home run in the top of the ninth inning. Bauer, the third player taken in the 2011 draft, gave up two runs, five hits and three walks...

GIFcap: Trevor Bauer & The Most Interesting Warm-Up In The World

So that’s what Trevor Bauer does when warming up before the inning starts, but that’s only the end of it. He starts with ninja training… …then moves on to using bands… …and ends with “The Karate Kid” impersonations

Arizona Diamondbacks Aaron Hill hits for the cycle for the 2nd time in 11 days.

Hitting for the cycle once in a season is rare, just ask the San Diego Padres.* Getting a single, double, triple and a home run in the same game twice in eleven days?  Remarkable. Aaron Hill hit for the cycle tonight in Milwaukee for the Arizona Diamondbacks.  It was the 2nd time Hill has had a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game in 11 days.  Hill...

Select Pitches from Trevor Bauer’s Debut

It’s probably true that basically any idiot can capture and render into GIF form video footage of a few pitches from Trevor Bauer‘s much-anticipated major-league debut on Thursday. Only one such idiot, however, both (a) writes for FanGraphs and (b) has 15 free minutes on Friday evening. This guy, is who. So, without anything further in the way of preface, here are three select...

Aaron Hill Hits for the Cycle AGAIN

The repetitive cycler Friday night was a tremendous one for Aaron Hill of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Not only did he double in the first inning for his 1000th MLB hit, but he went on to hit for the cycle for the second time this season. This tremendous feat makes Hill only the second player to accomplish this in the same season since 1900. Only Babe Herman of the Brooklyn Dodgers...

Matt Davidson Displays Power In Double-A

Arizona Diamondbacks third base prospect Matt Davidson began the 2012 season in quite an offensive groove. In April, his .330/.450/.549 slash line left the 21-year-old amongst Southern League Leaders. In fact, his 16 home runs to date is still tops amongst qualified hitters and double any player considered age appropriate for the league. However, Davidson’s numbers have been in...

Collmenter chases seasons first win Sunday

Prior to Sunday's game at Miller Park, Milwaukee's Ryan Braun will almost certainly be selected to his fifth All-Star game. While Braun being named to the Midsummer Classic has come to be expected over the years, so has scheduled starter Yovani Gallardo's dominance of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gallardo looks to earn his seventh victory in as many regular-season starts...

Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix, June 30, 2012: Aaron Hill hits for the cycle...again!

Going Cycling Did we really witness two cycles in less than two weeks? As if it was easy to hit for one, let alone two. Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2B Aaron Hill did it all on Friday, June 29, 2012. He ended his spectacular night by going 4-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SB, and 2 runs. His first cycle of the year was on June 18 and he enjoyed it so much that he went and did it again. Hill joins...

D-backs' Hill hits for second cycle of season

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Aaron Hill has hit for his second cycle of the season Friday night against the Milwaukee Brewers, becoming the second major league player since 1900 to accomplish the feat twice in the same year. The Arizona Diamondbacks' second baseman also singled, doubled, tripled and homered on June 18 against Seattle. Brooklyn's Babe Herman had two cycles in 1931...

2012 Waiver Wire – Week 13

The Arizona Diamondbacks called up starting pitcher Trevor Bauer from the minor leagues, but I don’t see him as a must-add in mixed league formats. Bauer lasted just four innings in his first start against the Atlanta Braves, allowing five hits and walking three while throwing 74 pitches. Bauer struggled with his control in the minor leagues with 48 walks in 93 innings and that...
