The Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds are currently battling it out for sole possession of the National League Central division title.  Monday, July 24 was their first of three games against one another in which this is their final regular season series against one another.  Milwaukee owns the season tie-breaker, but these games still hold a lot of value.

To begin the game Brewers rookie outfielder Joey Wiemer robbed Elly De La Cruz of a home run.  It was an incredible catch in center field as he clearly brought the baseball back into the ball park.  When Elly De La Cruz stepped up to the plate for his second at-bat he found a message on the scoreboard reading, “Almost hit a home run in the first inning…but didn’t.”

Milwaukee Brewers troll of Cincinnati Reds Elly De La Cruz backfires as he demolished a 456 foot home run.

During Elly De La Cruz’s at-bat in the third inning he made the Brewers pay by demolishing a baseball 456 feet.  Needless to say Milwaukee’s troll job backfired on them.

Milwaukee would end up getting the last laugh in this game as Christian Yelich delivered a walk-off hit in the ninth inning to secure a 3-2 victory.
