Due to declining profits over the last quarter, the Minnesota Twins announced today they will be cutting 21 jobs from their active roster before next year. Normally a team maintains 25 players employed at most times, with more after the September roster expansion. But due to economic woes, the Twins have trimmed back their jobs to only 4, even eliminating positions such as manager and stadium vendors. Their positions are being reformatted, so instead of having 9 defensive players on the field, their positions will be merely infielder, pitcher/3rd baseman, left fielder/hot dog vendor, and catcher/manager/batboy. In cases where there is vomit or a spill that needs cleaning up somewhere in the stadium, the catcher/manager/batboy can make a double switch and move the infielder to janitor.
