The Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels are rolling out a tasty promotion this season.On Friday, April 5, the Inland 66ers will hold Farewell to Twinkies Night on the heels of the announcement that Hostess is shutting down their operations.The organization has also extended an offer to actor Woody Harrelson, who in 2009, starred as the Twinkie obsessed Tallahassee in the zombie comedy, Zombieland, to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Beyond the invitation to Harrelson, the 66ers have also contacted Hostess about featuring Twinkie the Kid, Hostess’s well known mascot, in the Mascot Dash vs. the team’s own Bernie.The first 999 fans through the gates will receive a free Twinkie snack. However, don't worry if you just so happen to be the the 1,000th fan in attendance. The team is planning to have a silent auction for the final Twinkie during the seventh inning stretch with all proceeds going to charity.Although it isn't likely that Twinkies are going away for good, this promotion does offer a chance for fans to chow down on a piece of history. Let us all cross our fingers and hope that Harrelson and Twinkie the Kid join the fun.Via Inland 66ers.
