A look at Friday’s minor-league action within the Pirates' system ...

INDIANAPOLIS (17-17) lost to Louisville, 3-0. The Indians were held to six singles and did not put a runner on base in the final three innings. Five of the six outs recorded in the eighth and ninth innings were via the strikeout.

Indians hitters struck out 10 times and walked twice. They went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven on base.

ALTOONA (7-23) was postponed against Somerset because of rain. The teams will play a double header of seven-inning games beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday in Altoona.

GREENSBORO (16-14) lost at Bowling Green, 4-3. The Hot Rods scored two runs in the seventh and two in the eighth off of relievers Alessandro Ercolani and Cy Nielson. Nielson allowed his two runs in the eighth without allowing a hit. He walked the first two batters, hit the third with a pitch, and then induced two sacrifice flies before retiring the side with a fly out.

The Grasshoppers were held to five hits. They struck out 11 times and walked twice. Charles McAdoo recorded his 20th RBI of the season with a single in the third.

BRADENTON (13-18) beat St. Lucie, 8-7, for its eighth win in a row. Eddy Rodriguez hit a walk-off single with the game tied at 7 with two outs in the ninth inning.

The Marauders jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning on one of the more unprobable occurrences in baseball. Esmerlyn Valdez hit an inside-the-park grand slam:

Solomon Maguire hit a solo homer in the fourth. Keiner Delgado went 2-for-5 and is hitting .304  in five games with Bradenton.
