It was a winning day for the Blue Jays organization.

All five Blue Jays affiliates were in action on Thursday, with three teams picking up a win.

Let’s dig into the latest Minor League Report

Buffalo wins again

On Thursday evening, the Buffalo Bisons hosted the Worcester Red Sox, defeating the Boston affiliate 6-4 to move their record to 21-15, the third best record in the International League East.

Steward Berroa has quietly become a must-watch prospect, as he hit his fourth home run of the season, while also hitting a double and a single. Leo Jimenez and Brian Serven also had multi-hit games, while Addison Barger and Spencer Horwitz both hit doubles.

Horwitz’s 13th double is tied for the second most in the international league, with Barger not far behind. Rafael Lantigua had Buffalo’s other hit. It’s time to call him up.

Andrew Bash started the game and finished with a line of 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K. Out of the bullpen first was Luis Quiñones, who struck out three, walked two batters, and allowed a hit while picking up his fifth win of the season. Mason Fluharty struck out two and walked a batter in his inning of work.

Brendon Little had a rough game, giving up three earned runs in an inning of work, leading to an outing from Connor Cooke, who picked up the save in a clean inning of work with two strikeouts.

New Hampshire shutout

After shutting out the Harrisburg Senators 4-0 on Wednesday, the Senators returned the favour to the Fisher Cats on Thursday by the exact same score.

New Hampshire registered just three hits, all singles, from Josh Kasevich, Michael Turconi, and Garrett Spain. Moreover, the team had five walks, one each from Alan Roden, Gabriel Martinez, and Andres Sosa, while Rainer Nuñez walked twice. Alex De Jesus was hit by a pitch, meaning the only Fisher Cat who didn’t reach was Phil Clarke.

Although Adam Macko was tagged with the loss, it doesn’t mean he didn’t have a good game. The Slovakian-born lefty finished with a line of 5 IP,  4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K with two home runs given up. Adrián Hernández has had a nice season, but he gave up two earned runs in an inning and two thirds of work to bring his season ERA to 2.79.

Ian Churchill pitched a clean inning and a third, striking out a batter, with Jimmy Burnette doing the same over his inning of work.

Vancouver fell late

The only other loss in the Jays’ system came from the Vancouver Canadians, who fell 6-2 to the Everett AquaSox to bring their record to 12-13.

While the Canadians had just five hits, all were of the extra-base variety as Dasan Brown hit his third home run of the season, which gave the Canadians a 1-0 lead until the top of the sixth.

Late in the game, Glenn Santiago hit his first home run of the season to make it 6-2 for Everett, but it obviously wasn’t enough to get the job done.

There were two players with a double as well, as Ryan McCarty hit his sixth double of the season, with Estvien Machado hitting his second and third doubles of the season.

In terms of pitching, Ryan Jennings finished with a line of 5 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K which brought his season ERA all the way down to 0.43. Josh Mollerus was tagged with the loss, giving up two earned runs in two thirds of an inning pitched. Chay Yeager also gave up two earned runs in his inning of work.

Naswell Paulino walked three and gave up an earned run to bring his ERA to 3.8, while Rafael Ohashi struck out a batter in an inning and a third of clean work. The Brazilian righty still hasn’t given up a run this season

Dunedin outscored their opposition 8-3

It’s been a rough couple of weeks for the Dunedin Blue Jays, but Thursday saw every player in the lineup record a hit in an 8-3 win. Their record now sits at 13-17, which is third in the Florida State League West, but they are now seven games behind the leader.

Although there were 11 hits, only two were of the extra-base variety, as Manuel Beltre and Yhoangel Aponte both hit doubles, with the former being one of two players with a multi-hit game. Cristian Feliz also had two hits, while Jean Joseph, Victor Arias, Edward Duran, Tucker Toman, Alexis Hernandez, and Bryce Arnold all had one single. Hernandez walked three times, while Duran walked twice.

Grant Rogers picked up his first professional win, finishing with a line of 6 Ip, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K to bring his season ERA to 3.70. Carson Pierce gave up an earned run in his inning of work, as did Sebastian Espino, who also struck out a batter. J.J. Sanchez pitched an inning where he struck out two batters and walked one.

FCL Jays move to .500

On Thursday, the Florida Complex League Blue Jays defeated the FCL Tigers 5-1 to move their record to 2-2.

While no home runs were hit for the Jays this game, they registered a ton of extra-base hits. Enmanuel Bonilla hit a triple, while Faruk De La Cruz, Carlos Vasquez, and Kendry Chirinos had doubles. Both Chirinos and Bonilla had multi-hit games, as did Canadian Sam Shaw, who had two singles. Other players with a hit were Luis Meza and Adrian Meza.

Eminen Flores started the game, his first of the season, and finished with a line of 5.1 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K while picking up the win. Luis Torres struck out two batters and walked one in his inning and two thirds of work, while Ryan Chasse made his season debut after converting to a knuckleball pitcher, walking two and striking out one in his inning of work.

Carlos Meza, yes, there are three players with the last name “Meza” on the FCL Jays roster, finished with the same line as Chasse in the inning he pitched.
