Minor League Report: Spencer Horwitz leads the International League in doubles, Cristian Feliz hit his sixth home run, and more!

Beau Sulser started the game and finished with a line of 4.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 4 K with two home runs given up, being tagged with the loss. Mike Mayers had a good outing, pitching an inning and two thirds and striking out three. Joel Kuhnel made his second outing for the Bisons, giving up an earned run in two innings, while Brendon Little struck out a batter in an inning pitched.

New Hampshire won, but are still last in the division

On Saturday, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Harrisburg Senators 6-1 to bring their record to 13-18, the worst in the Eastern League Northeast.

The team had no extra-base hits surprisingly, but the team finished with 11 hits, with Alex De Jesus, Rainer Nuñez, and Garrett Spain all finishing with two hits, while Devonte Brown had three hits. Other players with a hit were Zach Britton and Riley Tirotta.

Trenton Wallace had another terrific start, finishing with a quality start and a line of 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K with a home run given up to bring his season ERA to 1.57. Trevor Clifton pitched a clean inning, while Eric Pardinho continued his insane stretch, striking out the side throwing 10 pitches, only one being a ball. Ryan Boyer struck out two in his inning of work.

Vancouver goes above .500

Like the Fisher Cats, the Vancouver Canadians picked up a win, defeating the Everett AquaSox 3-2 with a walk-off win for the second consecutive game. This brings their record to 14-13.

Nick Goodwin had the only extra-base hit (a double), as well as the only multi-hit game for the Canadians. Dasan Brown , Ryan McCarty, Jeffrey Wehler, Glenn Santiago, and Estiven Machado all had a single, while Santiago and Jace Bohrofen walked twice each.

Rafael Sánchez made the start for the Canadians, and finished with a line of 4 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 6.04. Grayson Thurman was the first out of the bullpen, walking two and striking out a batter. Chay Yeager’s only blemish was a walk and a hit by pitch in an inning and two thirds worked, while Anders Tolhurst picked up the win, allowing a hit in an inning and a third.

Dunedin blown out

Out of any loss for the Blue Jays affiliates on Saturday, Dunedin’s 12-2 loss to the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels was probably the worse. Dunedin now has a 13-19 record, tied for fourth in the division with Fort Myers.

Cristian Feliz hit the only home run in the Jays’ organization (excluding the big league team), which was his sixth of the season. While hitting six home runs in 102 plate appearances is impressive, the first baseman is rocking a 47.1 K% and a .161 batting average, which is a lot less impressive.

In total, Dunedin had six hits, with Tucker Toman having two of them, while Jean Joseph’s double was the Blue Jays’ only other extra-base hit. Bryce Arnold and Edward Duran both had singles as well.

Nolan Perry made his second start in Single-A, allowing an unearned run with two walks and strikeouts. Aaron Munson walked a batter and allowed two hits in two innings pitched, but didn’t give up a run. Bo Bonds took the loss, giving up two earned runs while striking two in his inning of work. Jordan Powell had a rough day, giving up five earned runs and four walks in two thirds of an inning.

Keiner Leon pitched the most innings, two innings and a third, giving up two runs (one earned) while striking out two and giving up a walk. Yondrei Rojas gave up two unearned runs, while striking out two and walking a batter.

FCL Jays lost their second straight game

Like the other Florida-based Blue Jays affiliate, the Florida Complex League Blue Jays were blown out, losing 9-3 to bring their record to 2-4.

There were no extra-base hits on the day, but two Canadians (Sam Shaw and Nicolas Deschamps) both had two singles. Other players with a hit were Luis Meza, Kendry Chirinos, Faruk De La Rosa, and Gregori Cano.

Christopher Castro made his second start of the season giving up three earned runs and three walks in two innings pitched, but struck out six. Jorge Guerra didn’t fare any better, giving up four earned runs (five runs) and striking out two in his inning of work. Evan Elliot pitched two clean innings with a strikeout and a walk, while Juan Nunez struck out a batter and walked two. Julio Ortiz pitched an inning with three walks, but got out of it.
