Gerrit Cole will get his first start for Indianapolis tonight. The top prospect in the Pirates system, made his way from High-A ball to AAA during his first season in pro ball. The DSL Pirates1 won the second round of their playoffs Thursday and will now go on to play the winner of the Yankees/Angels series in a best of three series for the DSL championship. The start date of that series is tentatively scheduled for Sunday. The GCL Pirates won the GCL championship Wednesday. Gerrit Cole makes his AAA debut tonight

Gerrit Cole will make his first start for Indianapolis tonight. He last pitched for Altoona five days ago, giving up four unearned runs in 6.1 innings, allowing six hits and six walks. In 12 starts for the Curve, he went 3-6 2.90, throwing a total of 59 innings, with 54 hits, two homers, 23 walks and 60 strikeouts. In 13 starts for Bradenton, Cole went 5-1 2.55, pitching 67 innings, with 53 hits, five homers, 21 walks and 69 strikeouts. Between the two stops, he has a 1.44 GO/AO ratio and a .228 BAA.

Double-A: Altoona (69-70) @ Erie (57-81) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Kyle Kaminska (0-0 4.50)

Kyle Kaminska will make his first start for Altoona tonight. After joining the Pirates in the Gaby Sanchez trade, Kyle made three appearances for the Curve, allowing three runs on seven hits, no walks and seven strikeouts, in six innings. He then moved down to Bradenton, where he made three starts, going 2-0 1.69 in 16 innings, allowing ten hits, two walks and he struck out 11 batters. He has yet to allow a home run since joining the Pirates system.

High-A: Bradenton (60-75 overall 31-34 2nd half) vs St Lucie (81-52 overall 32-33 2nd half) 6:30pm
Probable starter: TBD

Yesterday’s Result:  St Lucie 7 Bradenton 3

No starter has been named yet for Bradenton. The Marauders have just two games left on the season, both at home against St Lucie. They were recently eliminated from the second half playoff race, and they now could finish anywhere from second to fifth place in the division.

Low-A: West Virginia (59-78 overall 36-30 2nd half) vs Delmarva (51-84 overall 22-43 2nd half) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Robby Rowland (8-5 3.41)

Robby Rowland will make his last start of the season tonight, his 19th start on the year. He has pitched a total of 100.1 innings, allowing 104 hits, nine homers, 23 walks and he has 58 strikeouts, with a 1.74 GO/AO ratio. In his last start, Robby went 4.2 innings, giving up one run on nine hits and a walk. In his prior start, he struck out a season high of eight batters. He last faced Delmarva on 7/21, allowing four runs on ten hits. At home this year, Rowland is 5-3 3.10 in nine starts.

Short Season A: State College (32-39) @ Jamestown (31-39) 7:05pm
Probable Starter: Dovydas Neverauskas (NR)

Dovydas Neverauskas will make his first start for State College tonight. The 6″3 righty from Lithuania has spent the last three seasons in the Gulf Coast League. He went 1-1 4.08 in nine starts and one relief appearance this year, pitching a total of 35.1 innings. He allowed 37 hits, three homers, 18 walks and he had 29 strikeouts, with a 1.18 GO/AO ratio. Prior to this season, he had pitched a total of 35 innings. In his last start on 8/23, he allowed one run on four hits in 4.2 innings. Dovydas did not pitch during the GCL playoffs
