The Durham Bulls, AAA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, has already built a ticket sales promotion around the Rays new acquisition, top prospect Wil Myers. The Bulls are offering a three-game ticket plan, called the "Wil He Or Won't He?" plan that gives fans tickets to three games (Opening Night, July 4th, Fan Appreciation Night) for $24, while also offering fans a voucher for a free ticket to a game if Myers doesn't open the season with the Bulls and is instead on the Rays Opening Day roster. This is a pretty smart, innovative move from a minor league franchise that is no stranger to being smart. Offering a three-game plan is something fans will jump on, especially for the three prime dates they're offering. The addition of a fourth game if Myers is with the Rays to begin the season is just a cherry on top for fans in the Durham area.  How great is minor league baseball? Promotions aside, the Bulls are offering tickets to three games that fans flock to in droves in an easy to buy package that casual fans should eat up with a spoon. Tacking Myers' name onto it is just another example of getting people excited about young prospects in the game today, and a step in the right direction for the sport. "Hey, we know you want to see him, so here's your chance...and if he's too good to play here next season, have another game on us to warm up to some of our other future stars!" It's a pretty ingenious promotion in my mind. [follow]
