The suspension will take place as soon as Dowdy signs with a team.  He has been in the minors for the last decade, as a member of 8 different organizations, most recently with the San Francisco Giants.  He is the 17th player suspended this year. Dowdy has also spent time playing with teams in independent leagues as well.  In fact, he has spent more time there than being affiliated with a Major League organization.
