Chris Dickerson’s hot streak is helping him make his case for a promotion.

AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
Dewayne Wise may have cleared waivers and been sent to Scranton, but one has to think that if Chris Dickerson keeps up the hot bat, he’ll be next in line for a trip to the Bronx. Last night, Dickerson went 4-for-6, with a pair of home runs and three RBI to lead the Yankees to an 8-7 victory over Charlotte. In the month of July, Dickerson’s now 20-for-66 (.303) with four home runs and ten RBIs. Corban Joseph also brought home two runs, and now has twelve RBI in his last ten games. Francisco Cervelli did his part in the win as well, going 3-for-5 and scoring twice. On the mound, Ramon Ortiz earned his ninth win despite a shaky performance. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ace didn’t pitch much like one last night, allowing six runs on ten hits in six innings of work. Manny Delcarmen would pitch a scoreless ninth inning to record his third save of the year.

AA: Trenton Thunder
Trenton’s game against Harrisburg was suspended in the bottom of the second inning. They’ll resume that game at 6:05 PM today, with Trenton trailing 3-1.

High-A: Tampa Yankees
Tampa got the bats going early, putting six runs on the board quickly and hanging on for a 6-4 victory over the Palm Beach Cardinals. Leadoff hitter Ramon Flores came up a single shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored on the day. Adonis Garcia and Slade Heathcott both had multi-hit days while driving in two runs apiece. Austin Romine continued to work his way back towards Triple-A Scranton, going 3-for-4 in his first rehab appearance with Tampa. Caleb Cotham earned his second win of the season with five good innings on the mound. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits while striking out five. Tom Kahnle tossed two scoreless innings, earning his third save of the season.

Low-A: Charleston RiverDogs
Bryan Mitchell struggled as he took his eighth loss of the season after giving up four runs in the first inning to Rome, who won 7-4. Mitchell lasted five innings, giving up four hits and three walks while striking out four hitters. After he left, Ben Paullus and Pedro Guerra continued giving up runs, allowing three more between the both of them over four innings of work. Offensively, only Ben Gamel was able to produce a multi-hit game for the RiverDogs. This year’s fifth round pick, Rob Refsnyder, went 1-for-3, but managed to knock in two runs.
