Chris Dickerson’s hot streak is helping him make his case for a promotion.

AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
Dewayne Wise may have cleared waivers and been sent to Scranton, but one has to think that if Chris Dickerson keeps up the hot bat, he’ll be next in line for a trip to the Bronx. Last night, Dickerson went 4-for-6, with a pair of home runs and three RBI to lead the Yankees to an 8-7 victory over Charlotte. In the month of July, Dickerson’s now 20-for-66 (.303) with four home runs and ten RBIs. Corban Joseph also brought home two runs, and now has twelve RBI in his last ten games. Francisco Cervelli did his part in the win as well, going 3-for-5 and scoring twice. On the mound, Ramon Ortiz earned his ninth win despite a shaky performance. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ace didn’t pitch much like one last night, allowing six runs on ten hits in six innings of work. Manny Delcarmen would pitch a scoreless ninth inning to record his third save of the year.

AA: Trenton Thunder
Trenton’s game against Harrisburg was suspended in the bottom of the second inning. They’ll resume that game at 6:05 PM today, with Trenton trailing 3-1.

High-A: Tampa Yankees
Tampa got the bats going early, putting six runs on the board quickly and hanging on for a 6-4 victory over the Palm Beach Cardinals. Leadoff hitter Ramon Flores came up a single shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored on the day. Adonis Garcia and Slade Heathcott both had multi-hit days while driving in two runs apiece. Austin Romine continued to work his way back towards Triple-A Scranton, going 3-for-4 in his first rehab appearance with Tampa. Caleb Cotham earned his second win of the season with five good innings on the mound. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits while striking out five. Tom Kahnle tossed two scoreless innings, earning his third save of the season.

Low-A: Charleston RiverDogs
Bryan Mitchell struggled as he took his eighth loss of the season after giving up four runs in the first inning to Rome, who won 7-4. Mitchell lasted five innings, giving up four hits and three walks while striking out four hitters. After he left, Ben Paullus and Pedro Guerra continued giving up runs, allowing three more between the both of them over four innings of work. Offensively, only Ben Gamel was able to produce a multi-hit game for the RiverDogs. This year’s fifth round pick, Rob Refsnyder, went 1-for-3, but managed to knock in two runs.

Mark Melancon Has No Regrets About Career With Yankees, Failing To Be Mariano Rivera's Heir Apparent

NEW YORK -- He was once considered Mariano Rivera's heir apparent. When the Yankees drafted Mark Melancon in the ninth round of the 2006 MLB draft, they were grooming him to be the closer of the future. A standout at Arizona, Melancon had the credentials, boasting a formidable fastball and curveball. But the organization's vision didn't come to fruition in 2009 and 2010...

Ichiro Suzuki Excited for Red Sox-Yankees Rivalry, Still Unsure What to Expect

Ichiro Suzuki has 460 career at-bats against the Red Sox. His next at-bat against the Sox, however, will be something entirely different than the 460 previous. The outfielder was acquired by the Yankees earlier this week, and he'll get his first taste of the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry on Friday night when Boston makes its first trip to New York this season for what will also be...

Japanese Fans Reacting to Ichiro’s Trade to the Yankees

By now we all know Hall of Fame OF Ichiro Suzuki was traded to the New York Yankees for a ham sandwich. By all accounts it was a low risk move for the Yankees and Ichiro gets to (most likely) finish his career in New York. He also gets the opportunity (most likely) to get some serious exposure in the post season. We also know that Ichiro is like a God in Japan. The question is;...

Red Sox lose lead, rally back

Curtis Granderson misplayed Peter Ciriaco's ninth-inning flyball into a go-ahead triple, and the Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 8-6 Saturday night after Mark Teixeira had tied the score with a two-run homer off nemesis Vicente Padilla. Down 6-1, the Yankees closed in the fifth on Jayson Nix's two-run homer off Jon Lester and Derek Jeter's RBI grounder. After...

Jon Lester Records 1,000th Career Strikeout in Bottom of Sixth Inning Against Robinson Cano

With one out in the bottom of the sixth inning at Yankee Stadium, Robinson Cano took a called third strike, and thus that baseball might be on the plane back to Boston with Jon Lester. Cano's strikeout was the 1,000th of Lester's career. He becomes the second Red Sox lefty to record 1,000 strikeouts. Lester is now only 46 K's away from tying fellow southpaw Bruce Hurst...
