David Phelps was lights out yesterday in Trenton (Photo Credit: David Schofield/Trenton Thunder)

AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is on their All-Star Break

AA: Trenton Thunder
I’m not even sure where to start with David Phelps’ performance. He took dominant to a new level yesterday, allowing just one hit and one walk in 6.2 innings pitched. He also had eleven strikeouts on the game! Even more impressive was that Phelps and relief pitcher Danny Farquhar combined to retire the last 25 batters that Portland sent to the plate. The way Phelps pitched today, he’ll be back in the Major Leagues very soon, possibly as soon as right after the All-Star Break – and I’m sure the Eastern League hitters can’t wait to see him go. Offensively, Rob Segedin had his first career hit at the Double-A level, and did so in style with a seventh inning home run to left field. Jose Pirela also had himself quite a day out of the leadoff spot, homering in his first two at-bats.

High-A: Tampa Yankees
Tampa’s game against Dunedin was called with the Yankees up 4-1 after just five innings of play due to lightning. Matt Tracy had been on the mound for Tampa, and threw a five inning “complete” game, allowing one run on three hits and four walks while striking out eight. The outing was good for Tracy’s third win of the season. Ramon Flores led the team offensively as he raised his season batting average to .302 with a 3-for-3 performance. Flores was just a triple shy of the cycle. Kyle Higashioka brought home a pair of runs in the fourth inning with the Yankees only other hit on the day – a two-run home run which also scored Anderson Feliz.

The New York Yankees have told Mr. October to stay away this summer. The Hall of Famer will lay low for several weeks, the person told the AP on Monday on...

Can Robinson Cano repeat as Home Run Derby Champion?

New York Yankees' second baseman Robinson Cano is the reigning Home Run Derby Champion.  On Monday night he gets his opportunity to be the first back to back winner in Derby history.  Can he out blast names such as Prince, Bautista, Kemp, and Trumbo?  This segment was recorded prior to the announcement that Andrew McCutchen would replace Giancarlo Stanton in the competition...

Chamberlain fans two in first rehab appearance

New York Yankees right-hander Joba Chamberlain didn't get much defensive support, but he made a good impression Tuesday in his first rehab appearance. Working as the starter for the Yankees' rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate, Chamberlain got the Pirates' leadoff man to hit a grounder on which two errors were committed, leaving the batter at second base. The next...

Robinson Cano: Royals Fans “Crossed the Line” at Home Run Derby; Yelled at His Family

Robinson Cano wasn’t very good at the Home Run Derby Monday night, as he didn’t even hit one single home run. It seemed that the Kansas City Royals fans got to him at the stadium. However, Cano told Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com that the fans crossed the line with their booing when they started yelling at his family. “This is a game,” Cano said. “We’re All-Stars. And if...

Reggie Jackson Told by Yankees to Stay Away From Team in Wake of Controversial Comments

Reggie Jackson may have been the straw that stirs the drink, but the Yankees are now asking their former slugger to stay away from their current brew of a team. Jackson, who serves as a special advisor to New York, has been "benched" by the Yankees and told to stay away from the team for the immediate future, according to ESPN's Buster Olney. The move comes in response...

Want to Smell Like the Yankees? An Interview With the Creator of the Yankees Fragrance

Our friends over at BreakThru TV sat down with Duncan Bird, the head of the creative agency Cloudbreak Group, who helped develop the new New York Yankees fragrance. It’s quite the task to develop a new product with an organization such as the Yankees. This is some real-life Mad Men type stuff, as well. Prepare to shell out some change to smell like a Bronx Bomber, though. If...

Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout, New York Yankees' Robinson Cano Favored to Win AL MVP

Only two players in Major League Baseball history have won both the Rookie of the Year and MVP awards in the same season. Of course Boston fans know one of them: outfielder Fred Lynn in his memorable 1975 campaign. The other was Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki in 2001. Current Los Angeles Angels rookie outfielder Mike Trout could make it a trio as he is now the 5-2 co-favorite at Bovada...

The Daily Heckle: Robinson Cano Needs You To Calm Down, KC

Reggie Jackson has started a commotion. Again.

However, summer may not exactly be Mr. October’s best season. This time, it isn’t a baseball hit from Jackson’s bat, but Reggie himself that has been catapulted from Yankee stadium. Though no formal announcement, fine, or discipline has been administered, USA Today reports that, after Reggie Jackson’s insults to Alex Rodriguez in Sports Illustrated, the...

Tale of Two Teams

The Red Sox and Yankees have been hit with injuries this season but when you look at their Division standings, New York's in first place and Boston last place. "WHY?" If you watched this weekend's series from Fenway Park the answer was right in front of you, "age" trumped "youth." If you watched any of the games this weekend...

Robinson Cano says Royals fans crossed the line by yelling at his family

Royals fans made their point at the Home Run Derby Monday night with the way they treated Robinson Cano. They were upset with Cano, the American League team captain, for not picking Kansas City DH Billy Butler to join the AL squad. They booed the Yankees second baseman mercilessly in a move that many thought was classless during what is supposed to be a fun event. Cano says the harassment...
