Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 4, Toledo 1

Ronnier Mustelier hit far too well to remain at Double-A Trenton, and is experiencing more of the same success now for Scranton. That success was evident tonight as Mustelier went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run to lead the Yankees to victory. Colin Curtis also showed signs of life for the first time this year, putting together a 3-for-4 night out of the second spot in the lineup. Ramon Ortiz threw seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits to secure his first victory of the season. Manny Delcarmen’s shutout 9th secured the win, and it was Delcarmen’s first save of the season.

Binghamton 12, Trenton 3

Nothing worked tonight for Cory Abriso, who allowed nine runs (three earned) in just two innings to seal the Thunder’s fate before the game was even into the third inning. It was Abriso’s first loss of the season. Offense was few and far between for the Thunder, save for DH Cody Johnson. Johnson was able to get the Thunder on the board for their only lead of the night with his ninth home run of the season, a two-run blast in the top of the first. David Adams and Kevin Mahoney were the only other players to even record a hit for Trenton.

Tampa 9, Charlotte 3

It was the Ramon Flores show tonight for Tampa, as their left fielder went 2-for-5 with a home run and three runs batted in. Kelvin Castro had a good day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs knocked in. Rob Segedin, who was off to a hot April before simmering a bit in May, went 1-for-3 with a run batted in. He also stole his seventh base of the season. Tampa pitchers combined to allow just five hits on the evening. Vidal Nuno started, but went just three innings, allowing two hits and two unearned runs. Mike Montgomery, one of the few standout relievers in the Yankees’ system, recorded the final four outs for his sixth save of the season.

Charleston 3, Rome 0

I have two questions: Why is Tyler Austin still in Charleston, and did anyone expect Bryan Mitchell to be this dominant in his first crack at full season ball? Austin’s two-run shot in the first inning was his thirteenth home run of the season. He’ll easily make the South Atlantic League all-star game this season. Another member of the RiverDogs who should easily make it is Bryan Mitchell. Now 4-2 with a 2.63 ERA on the season, Mitchell threw seven shutout innings tonight, while allowing just six hits and zero walks. He also struck out ten hitters. Mitchell’s performance this year has been phenominal, and tonight was no different as he helped the RiverDogs move to 26-12 on the season.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Andy Pettitte pitched eight shutout innings for his first regular-season win since July 2010, leading the New York Yankees over the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 Friday night.
