Matt Cain exercised some AT&T Park demons, but a late collapse by the Giants cost them a win, as they fell to the Chicago Cubs 3-2 in the series opener Friday night. The Cubs were able to break through and strike first against Cain. With one out in the fourth, former-Giant Nate Schierholtz crushed a ball to right-center field for a double, and came home to score on a ground ball off the bat of Starlin Castro. Tony Abreu overran the ball, and Chicago had a 1-0 lead. After three straight starts of less than five innings pitched, Cain was brilliant through seven. Entering Friday’s game, he was 4-4 with a 5.74 ERA at AT&T Park, but there were no traces of that Matt Cain on Friday night. “I felt good,” Cain said. “I just had a good feeling coming out of the bullpen, as the game started.
