Kevin Correia to start Monday

It appears RHP Kevin Correia will start Monday for #Pirates v. #Rockies, weather permitting. — Rob Biertempfel (@BiertempfelTrib) April 22, 2012   Kevin Correia was scratched from his start last night due to soreness in his side. He seems to be ok and will start Monday. Brad Lincoln, who would have started the game had Correia been unavailable, will stay in the bullpen for the time being.

Fans cant beat Moyers 78-mph heater

Colorado Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer made headlines last week when, at 49 years old, he became the oldest pitcher to win a major league game. Also of note in his start against the San Diego Padres was that Moyer's fastball topped out at 78 mph. The Fort Myers Miracle, the Class-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, took note of both those facts and decided to have a little fun...

Minor league team couldn’t find one fan who could throw harder than Jamie Moyer

Jamie Moyer, the oldest man ever to win a MLB game, is 49 years old. Jamie Moyer’s fastball tops out at 78-mph so of course former high school pitchers everywhere think they can easily surpass that.So the minor league Fort Myers Miracle put on a little promotion to see if anyone could beat Moyer’s 78-mph fastball and if they did, they would get a free ticket to an upcoming game...

Fans fail to top Jamie Moyer’s fastball

Jamie Moyer is laughing at your fastball When Jamie Moyer became the oldest pitcher to win a game many joked about a 49 year old baseball player being successful. After all the guy throws 78 mph it can’t be that hard to hit it. Well apparently plenty of fans of the Class-A level Fort Myers Miracle are finding out that 78 mph is pretty darn fast. In a current promotion the team...

The Old Man and the Pirates

Tonight, the Pirates face Jamie Moyer, who is 49 years old and can't throw 80 mph. That means he's old enough to be many of the Pirates' dad and they all probably threw harder than he does now when they were 15. That said, Moyer's the type of pitcher that you need patience against and the Pirates are almost completely without any sort of patience whatsoever this year...

Minor league Miracle team invites fans to top Moyer's fastball speed, all fail

Class-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, The Fort Myers Miracle, noticed that Colorado Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer's fastball topped out at 78 MPH during his last start against the San Diego Padres.... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Rockies-Pirates Preview

Jamie Moyer feels that someone will eventually break the major league record he set last week as the oldest player to win a game. That's possible, but the Colorado Rockies 49-year-old left-hander can make that less likely each time he takes the hill. Moyer gets the ball Monday night in Pittsburgh, where the Rockies open a three-game series against a light-hitting Pirates team...

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Colorado Rockies – Games 17 and 18

My main man Kevin Correia with another quality start.  That’s why I love the guy so much.  I’m very surprised he didn’t summon all his powers to get a win out of this one though.  Maybe he traded his win even in bad starts powers for a be reasonable at PNC Park? Either way I’ll [...]

Game 16: Pirates 5 Rockies 4

Let's start with this: this post will not be about bunting. I have an alarming amount of things to say about bunting and I'll probably say them several times in the near future. The bunting in this game made me angry, but I want to save most of these thoughts for later so that I can be more coherent and (hopefully) eloquent about it. For tonight, the Pirates had one of their...

On the Beat: Amazin' Moyer by John Perrotto

Jim Tracy is a man of many words. The Rockies manager can wax poetic about many of his players, both past and present, and is more than willing to give long and thoughtful answers to all baseball-related questions. However, when it comes to describing his number-two starter, Tracy keeps coming back to one word. "Amazing," Tracy said. "Truly amazing."...
