For game one, Toronto will start Esmil Rogers (3-4, 3.64). This is a pretty decent pitching match up as both teams are looking to make a quick impact beginning the second half of the season. Toronto will need their bats to come alive when they have runners in scoring position, despite finishing ninth in baseball in total runs scored during first half of play. Price missed about two months already, but has thrown back-to-back complete games in the month of July. Three game series: July 19t – July 21st Next game probables: Hellickson vs. Buehrle New York Yankees (51-44) @ Boston Red Sox (58-39) – 7:10 pm The Yankees and Red Sox begin a three game series in one of the better r...

Trout helps teammates' Cancer research efforts

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Like most other all-stars and baseball fans alike, Angels outfielder Mike Trout's fondest memory of this year's Major League All-Star Game was Yankees closer Mariano Rivera pitching the eighth inning for the American League. But the star outfielder also had some time to help out one of his Angels teammates. Trout was given a pink glove by reliever Jerome...

Tommy Hanson Rehab Start With The Inland Empire 66ers

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starting pitcher had a nice rehab stint with the Class-A Advanced Inland Empire 66ers last night. Hanson threw 59 pitches, 33 for strikes in three and a third innings. He allowed two runs, both earned, on three hits. Hanson became frustrated with his location early in the second, according to 66ers broadcaster, Sam Farber (via Twitter (@SamFarberLive...

"It sucks."

"It sucks." (Bryce Harper, via Washington Post, 7/19/2013) "That was frustrating." (Davey Johnson, via Nats Insider, 7/19/2013) "I don't know how he hit the ball." (Rafael Soriano on Andre Ethier's 9th inning HR, via Nationals.com, 7/19/2013) Dodgers 3, Nationals 2: Death, taxes, and no run support for Stephen Strasburg. Quick, someone...

Halos ride Weaver's gem, three homers past A's

If the Angels are going to make a run in the second half, their stars need to lead the way. And on Friday night, in a 4-1 victory over the American League West-leading Athletics at Angel Stadium, Jered Weaver, Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton did exactly that. Trout, Pujols and Hamilton combined for five hits, two home runs and three RBIs, Weaver threw 6 2/3 scoreless...

Are the Washington Nationals in on Matt Garza?

photo provided by cbssports.com While the Washington Nationals starting pitching has been one of the few bright spots on the team this season, there is rumor of an unknown “mystery team” jumping in and trying to snag Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza. According to Gordon Wittenmeyer of the Chicago Sun-Times, that team is the Washington Nationals. Apparently though, the Washington...

More Bold Predictions: Josh Hamilton, Ubaldo Jimenez

Keith Allison During the All Star break, most owners out there tend to follow the same routine. Get up and look at your roster, realize that you don't need to make any changes for the day, and then sit and stare at your roster wondering what might have been...and wondering what is yet to come. I'm going to tell you what to expect from some big name players for the second...

Dodgers edge Strasburg, Nationals

Andre Ethier homered off Rafael Soriano to lead off the ninth inning, and the Los Angeles Dodgers resumed play after the All-Star break Friday night with a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals. Ethier pulled a 1-2 slider just over the wall in right-center, his sixth homer of the year and the second ninth-inning homer allowed by Soriano (1-2) in three appearances. Hanley Ramirez...

The long climb begins; Angels beat A's 4-1

There's an old saying, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. For the Angels, any hope of contention for the AL West title or a wild card begins with nights like tongiht. The A's are one of the best teams in baseball (I know I threw up a little just typing that phrase) and the schedule gods have given the Angels a shot by orchestrating several series between...

Series Preview: A’s Look to Keep Rolling with Weekend Set vs. Angels

On Friday night, the first-place Oakland A’s (56-39) will ride into Anaheim to take on the Angels (44-49) in a three-game weekend set that kicks off the so-called “second half” of the 2013 season. The A’s, if you may recall, ended their pre-ASG segment of the season with two very solid games against the Boston Red Sox, including last Sunday’s extra-innings walk-off provided...

Drunk blog continues

I have no idea what happened in the Yankiverse yesterday. None. Maybe Cashman stole Bryce Harper from the Nationals, or A-Rod has been promoted to Columbus. It's like being in outer space. I'm cut off. The Duke showed up last night, a day ahead of schedule. He came early because the Redsocks are in first. Smug SOB. Wore a brand new Redsock hat. I'm talking brand new....

Athletics-Angels Preview

Though the Los Angeles Angels have the high-priced, marquee talent, the low-budget Oakland Athletics are the team to catch in the AL West. Looking to continue their success in Anaheim, the visiting A's hope to end their recent struggles against Jered Weaver and hand the underachieving Angels a fourth consecutive defeat Friday night. For the first time since 1990 - the last...
