The Philadelphia Phillies and relief pitcher Chad Durbin will have a reunion in 2013 as he has agreed to a one year contract with a club option for 2014. Durbin was a steady force in the Phillies bullpen from 2008 through 2010.
The 35 year old spent 2012 with the Atlanta Braves where he was 4-1 with a 3.10 ERA in 76 games. Durbin had a .083 ERA against NL East opponents and was stellar from May through the rest of the year. Durbin has a career mark of 42-47 with a 4.95 ERA in 440 games.
Ruben Amaro is showing that he is serious about solidifying a bullpen that kept the team out of the postseason in 2012. With the addition of Mike Adams, Antonio Bastardo, and the hopeful continued emergence of Phillippe Aumont, the team should be much improved getting the ball from the starter to Jonathan Papelbon.
