Against all odds and after Tommy John surgery at age 47, Jamie Moyer has won a spot in the 2012 Colorado Rockies rotation. Moyer pitched well enough in Spring Training to make the team. If he can win a game he will be the oldest player in major league history to earn a win at age 49. Amazing that this guy just never quits. Kudos to him for preserving and not only coming back from surgery but earning a spot in a big league rotation. One would have thought a bullpen spot would have been a long shot but Moyer will start April 7th against the Houston Astros. Moyer last pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2010 when he was 9-9 with a 4.84 ERA. Moyer’s first game was on June 16, 1986 when he beat Steve Carlton in his second to last start as a Phillie. Moyer was just 23. Follow MTR Baseball on Facebook and Twitter and tune in the The MTR Baseball Beat, Warning Track, and Passed Ball Show on MTRRadio.com.
