A common question among baseball fans early in the 2012 campaign has been whether the Washington Nationals are for real. Ryan Zimmerman’s health may provide part of the answer to that question. Zimmerman has been out since Friday with soreness in his right shoulder.
Zimmerman is heading for an MRI and manager Davey Johnson fears he has a muscle tear. Zimmerman can throw and field with without pain but it hurts for him to swing a bat. Zimmerman is off to a slow start hitting only .224 with 1 home run.
If Zimmerman is down for an extended time, it is hard to think that the Nats can win the N.L. East.
