The Philadelphia Phillies offense has been the subject of much discussion at the end of the first month of the 2012 season. The biggest questions have been whether this team can put up enough runs consistently to win and if and when Chase Utley and Ryan Howard return will they be able to return to form and return the Phillies offense to being one of the best in the National League? There is another question though that has been less asked. Should Jimmy Rollins continue to be somewhere else in the lineup or should he remain as he is tonight in the lead off spot in the lineup? The idea of moving Rollins to the third spot and potentially the fifth or sixth spot when Howard and Utley return has merit. The team has legitimate top of the order hitters in Juan Pierre and Shane Victorino. Many have said for years how Rollins is not a prototypical lead off guy.
