After not being selected by Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington for the American League All-Star team as a member of the Chicago White Sox last season, A.J. Pierzynski had more than a few choice words for his new skipper, after signing a one year deal last week. Less than happy with the decision, Pierzynski did not mince words, even after Washington said how he truly felt about the choice to leave Pierzynski off of the roster. “I feel bad for Pierzynski,” Washington said Sunday after the team was announced. “The guy’s having an outstanding year. He’s been working with a very good pitching staff over there with those Chicago White Sox for many years. I consider him a winning player because he beats you any kind of way he can. He beats you mentally, he beats you physically. So I feel really bad for Pierzynski.” In typical A.J. fashion, it did not take long for the feisty catcher to fire back. “If [Washington] felt that bad he would have put me on the team,” Pierzynski said.”He had an opportunity to and he didn’t do it. Obviously, he can feel as bad as he wants, but he didn’t feel that bad.” Thankfully, that all appears to be in the past for Pierzynski and Washington. “It came up [at the lunch], and I made a joke of it,” Pierzynski said on a conference call with reporters on Wednesday. “It was over as soon as it happened. You’re disappointed as a player because you want to go to the All-Star Game and be honored that way. But when it was over, it was over.” I guess a contract worth $7.5 million with a very good team can make a lot of past bad blood disappear. “I know he was in a tough spot,” Pierzynski said. “It wouldn’t change how I feel about Ron Washington because I know what he’s done in this game and where he stands. I’m over it and hopefully we can move on from that also.” The Rangers are also hopeful, as Pierzynski was one of the only players thus far who the Rangers have signed to replace the likes of Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli. Texas will be counting on Pierzynski to come close to replicating his numbers from a season ago, in which he hit a career high 27 home runs.   The post MLB Rumors: A.J.
