The Tampa Bay Rays IF Reid Brignac was one of two players recently designated for assignment in a roster move in order to make room for RP Kyle Farnsworth and 2B Kelly Johnson. The versatile infielder is already drawing interest from two teams acording to one report. The Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros reportedly have interest in Brignac according to CBS Sport Jon Heyman. “#twins, #astros among teams that could have interest in reid brignac,” Heyman tweeted on Wednesday evening. After being designated for assignment, the Rays have 10 days to either trade, release or place him on waivers. Brignac possesses a solid glove in the middle infield and played as the Rays primary shortstop during the 2011 season. He did spend the majority of last season at AAA Durham, appearing just 16 games for the Rays in Tampa. His most successful season in the majors was in 2010 when he appeared in 113 games for the Rays.
