Twelve Major League Baseball players have accepted 50-game suspensions for violating baseball’s drug policy, reports FOXSports.com. An announcement for the potential suspension of New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is still expected later Monday. The players that have been suspended without the right to appeal are: • Nelson Cruz, Rangers outfielder • Everth Cabrera, Padres shortstop • Jhonny Peralta, Tigers shortstop • Antonio Bastardo, Phillies reliever • Jordany Valdespin, Mets outfielder • Francisco Cervelli, Yankees catcher • Jesus Montero, Mariners catcher • Cesar Puello, Mets outfield prospect •  Sergio Escalona, Houston Astrospitching prospect • Fernando Martinez, Yankees outfield prospect • Fautino De Los Santos, free-agent pitcher • Jordan Norberto, free-agent pitcher Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun accepted a 65-game suspension on July 22 and will not play the remainder of the season. According to MLB.com, Rodriguez is the only player who has not accepted his suspension.  MLB officials have informed Rodriguez that a settlement is no longer on the table. If Rodriguez is suspended through the end of the 2014 season, he’ll still be able to collect his salary for 2015, 2016 and 2017. “I think all of us are curious what’s going to happen, and is Alex going to be a player for us tomorrow, and what’s going to happen with the other guys that are involved in this. Because in my mind I have him penciled in here tomorrow,” Girardi said. “It hasn’t really occupied my mind like maybe some other things have. I think all of us have known that possibly something could be coming for a lot of different players. “I don’t suspect it’ll be awkward. Most of the guys know him as a teammate and have laughed a lot with Alex and been around Alex a lot. I think it’ll be business as usual. I’m sure there will be more media there obviously tomorrow, but I think that’s more for Alex to deal with than the rest of the guys. I don’t think it’ll be a big deal.” The post MLB suspends 12 players for PEDs appeared first on Sports Glory.
