When the Mets drafted RHP Brant Rustich in the second round of the 2007 MLB Amateur Draft, many thought with his size, strength, stuff, and advanced skills, that he would move quickly through the minor leagues and be ready to help out in the big league bullpen sooner rather than later. Many Mets fans began to dream of this 6’6″ hard throwing, relief ace coming out of the Mets bullpen to strike fear into the hearts of opposing hitters, but so far it has not turned out that way. Now, more than four years later, at age 26, Rustich has thrown less than 135 total professional innings due to what seemed to be, never-ending arm issues. But after enduring some very tough times, including a misdiagnosis on his arm, the problem was finally discovered and treated, and according to Brant, he is a healthy pitcher for the first time in years. Let’s find out a little more about what Rustich has gone through and what his prognosis is moving forward. And what better way to find out...

Why Misleading Stats On David Wright Change Everything
Since 2004, David Wright has been a fan favorite. His name can be found all over the Mets’ all-time offensive leaderboard and he has accomplished this all before his 29th birthday. Because of this, some Mets fans would find it impossible to see the team without David Wright and would consider it sacrilege to trade him.
However, I’ve been doing some research on the...
Mets looking for new backup C, Paulino on the outs
“In Ronny Paulino’s first season in New York, the team did not view him as a diligent worker, adequate defensive catcher, or offensive force off the bench, and some are pushing to replace the arbitration-eligible backstop,” according to the Daily News.

When are the Mets going to do something?
The countless number of e-mails in my inbox today can mostly be summed up like this: “What is taking so long? When are the Mets going to do something?”
Yes, things have been quiet. But, it’s not just quiet for the Mets, it’s quiet for pretty much every team right now (short of a few small deals here and there).
Why? Well, I think teams were taking a wait-and...
Mets Still Quiet, Blame Omar not Sandy
The expression many of us still have since Minaya was fired as Mets GM two years ago.
Like many Mets fans, the lack of action in this years free agent market is starting to get to me. I can understand the team isn’t exactly in the position we’d like them to be both financially and talent-wise, but when are they even going to be linked to someone? The only names it seems...
New York Mets Tidbits: Parnell, Garza, Wilson
Still no closer?
Is it possible that it’s some Jedi mind trick to say they don’t have a closer but Bobby Parnell is actually the closer?
Mets fans aren’t happy with Parnell but he was only given half a chance. He would close then be in the 7th inning the next day. You have to throw him to the wolves and see if he can sink or swim. Parnell did have a knuckle curve...
Capps has not heard from the Mets since GM Meetings
According to the New York Post, “Paul Kinzer, the agent for reliever Matt Capps, says he hasn’t heard from Mets since the GM meetings,’ during which the Mets had told him they had a ‘possible interest’ in his client.
Matthew Cerrone: To me, Capps is a middle reliever. He can be better than what he showed last year. But, even still, he shouldn’...
Mets not in on Broxton
Reports indicate that Jonathan Broxton will select his next team within the week, but despite needing a closer the Mets aren't believed to be involved. The Mets never appeared interested in Broxton and probably his injury history is why. I'm glad the Mets are passing on him, Broxton seems to be an injury waiting to happen...
Loewen gets minor league deal with Mets (AP)
Pitcher-turned-outfielder Adam Loewen has agreed to a minor league contract with the New York Mets. The 27-year-old Loewen, who will attend major league spring training under Tuesday's deal, was 6 for 32 (.188) for Toronto last season with one home run and four RBIs. He hit .306 at Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League with 46 doubles, 17 homers and 85 RBIs.
Tweets from Mets during private Q&A with Sandy
The Mets are holding an exclusive, private Q&A for season ticket holders with Sandy Alderson and members of the front office. Here are quotes they are sending out on Twitter:

Mets May Replace Paulino, Inquired On Jack Wilson
It's been a quiet offseason for the Mets to this point, but we can expect them to pursue help at shortstop whether or not Jose Reyes returns. They'll also look for depth in the rotation, the bullpen and potentially the outfield. Here’s the latest on some possible offseason moves...
Some Mets officials were displeased with Ronny Paulino’s defense, offense and work...
Pirates Sign Nick Evans
According to Andy Martino of the Daily News, Nick Evans has signed a minor league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Evans had a decent season in 2011 batting .256 with four home runs and 25 RBI in 176 at bats..
In 2010, he had a solid showing and posted a .300/.371/.536 slash with 23 homeruns and 80 RBIs in 548 PA between Binghamton and Buffalo.
Evans could thrive in Pittsburgh...
Mets are strong players for Octavio Dotel
In a post to MLB.com’s Hot Stove blog, Anthony DiComo says, “The Mets are strong players for right-handed reliever Octavio Dotel,” according to a person with knowledge of the discussions.
The Cardinals have also expressed interest in retaining Dotel, explains DiComo, “as he played a significant role in their World Series run following a midseason trade from...
Mets eye A’s Bailey
The Mets are among the at least half-dozen teams that have inquired seriously about Oakland closer Andrew Bailey, a person familiar with those talks told The Post. However, the A’s are selling high on the righty and currently do not believe the Mets have the necessary pieces to obtain...
