ST. LOUIS The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that All-Star catcher Yadier Molina has been placed on Major League Baseballs bereavement list and that catcher Bryan Anderson has been recalled from Memphis (AAA).
Anderson, 25, was batting .210 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 64 games for Memphis this season. The former (2005) 4th round draft selection appeared in 15 games at the Major League level for the Cardinals in 2010, batting .281 (9-for-32) with 4 RBI.
The left-handed hitting Anderson will wear uniform 16 and he is expected to be in uniform for tonights series opener with the Miami Marlins.
