Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Brandon Morrow said he went into Wednesday's start against the Baltimore Orioles with a chip on his shoulder. He left with a bruise on his right shin after being hit by a comebacker, and he was thankful it wasn't worse. Morrow picked up the win as the Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep by defeating the Orioles 4-1 on four solo home runs. In a 14-3 loss to the Texas Rangers last Friday, Morrow allowed six runs in two-thirds of an inning, the shortest start of his career. "I came in the game with a little chip on my shoulder after the last time," Morrow said. "And then of course we needed this one to sweep them to get back in the race." He was assisted from the field, not putting an weight on his right foot, after Wilson Betemit's shot hit him on the leg. "It hurt a lot," Morrow said. "My foot was numb and then felt like it was swelling up. I guess there's a nerve in there that it hit or ...

Blue Jays right-hander Brandon Morrow had to be helped off the field after he was struck on the lower right leg by Wilson Betemit's line drive in the seventh inning of Wednesday night's game against Baltimore.

Before I get to Monday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, I got a little bit of news about the Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays have sent Eric Thames, who has been slumping at the plate lately, down to Triple A Las Vegas on Tuesday and has called up Mike McCoy. Thames hit .3o8 in the month of April, but has only hit .190 in May.
Mike McCoy has been called up from Triple...
They are the only major league team based outside the United States. They are going on two decades without a postseason berth. In the rugged American League East, their rotation includes one rookie (Drew Hutchison) and two others who might as well be (Kyle Drabek, Henderson Alvarez).
The Toronto Blue Jays are easily overlooked. But that will change.
For one thing, they have...
Edwin Encarnacion hit one of Toronto's four solo home runs, pitcher Brandon Morrow left the game after being struck by a line drive and the Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-1 Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep.
Morrow suffered a bruised right shin when he was struck by Wilson Betemit's liner in the seventh, hopping around the mound in pain. Manager John...
When first baseman Adam Lind was sent to Class AAA Las Vegas on May 17, he was assigned on option. But now he is off the Toronto Blue Jays' 40-man roster, assigned outright to Las Vegas on Thursday after clearing waivers. The move was made to clear a spot for right-handed pitcher Robert Coello, who is being called up to provide bullpen insurance. The Blue Jays bullpen was...
If you're looking for the heart-warming story of the week, you need to check out the below picture from last night's Toronto Blue Jays/Baltimore Orioles affair.
A group of fans from a Quebec high school called "Academy Saint Marie" decided to honor a sick friend by the name of Stephen McAllister who was unable to make the trip to the Rogers Centre with them to...
Right-hander Ryota Igarashi has been claimed by the New York Yankees off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.
Igarashi, who turned 33 Monday, allowed four earned runs in one inning over two appearances this season with the Blue Jays, who brought him up May 25 and designated him two days later.
He was 5-2 with a 5.74 ERA in 79 relief appearances with the Mets in 2010-11, spent spring...
Roger Clemens' former catcher with the Toronto Blue Jays testified Wednesday that he had seen vitamin B12 ''shots lined up ready to go'' for players, a claim also made by Clemens and for which he was charged with obstructing Congress.
Clemens is charged with obstruction of Congress, perjury and making false statements for denying to Congress in 2008 that he ever...
Brett Lawrie had three hits and three RBIs, Ricky Romero won for the seventh time in nine starts against Baltimore and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the slumping Orioles 8-6 Tuesday night.
The bottom three hitters in Toronto's lineup, Lawrie, David Cooper and Rajai Davis, went a combined 8 for 12 with six RBIs and scored four runs.
Lawrie also made a spectacular sliding catch...
Let’s play a game called “Which one of these is not like the others?”
Culled from Fangraphs, Baseball-Reference, and yours truly, defensive ratings for Brett Lawrie:
Folks, are we worried about the Baltimore Orioles now? Tonight, they lost their fifth game in a row, as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated them, 4-1.
Once again, the Orioles lose a series, and this time they were swept. The Jays treated the Orioles like a mule, and they once again brought the pain, as they scored all their runs off solo homers. Jason Hammel became the latest Baltimore...
