Above: Mike Morse dumps a (smallish) bucket of ice water on Adam LaRoche and Ryan Zimmerman after Zim scored the game winning run on a wild pitch in the 10th. Nationals 5, Mets 4: Amazin' Nats tie it in the 9th, win it in the 10th on a Pedro Beato wild pitch. Chalk up another walk-off for Ryan Zimmerman. Poor Ross Detwiler deserved the W, but Tyler Clippard blew it up in the 9th. Doesn't matter. Bryce Harper's triple would've won this thing if David Wright wasn't laying on top of him. Nationals exploring pitching options

The Nationals do not intend to allow right-hander Stephen Strasburg reach his innings limit without an alternate plan. The team is exploring trades for starting pitchers, including Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster, according to major-league sources. In addition, the Nationals are looking for an everyday catcher, with the Rockies' Ramon Hernandez among their potential targets...

Nats Win Another Series Behind Incredible Jordan Zimmermann

As one of the most underrated starters in baseball, Jordan Zimmermann had a typical Jordan Zimmermann outing on Wednesday as the Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets 4-3 and win the series.  Zimmermann lasted six innings, surrendering just four hits and striking out four. He didn’t give up any runs or walks. It’s ben remarkable to watch how good JZimm has been, and it...

The Chief is participating in Bethesda Big Train’s Celebrity Baseball camp, which started yesterday and continues through Friday at Cabin John Park in Bethesda. There he is above at camp yesterday, in a photo via @AllStars_S2...

Important Homestand for Nationals

Big Stretch Upcoming For Nats Last night’s thrilling win against the Mets in extra innings could act as a spring board to propel the Nationals on a hot streak as they prepare to host all four of their NL East opponents over the next two plus weeks in what could be the most important stretch of the regular season.   (Photo by Greg Fiume/Getty Images) Between today and August 5th...

FanGraphs Prospect Stock Watch – 07/18/12

Brian Goodwin, OF, Washington Nationals Current Level: A 2012 Top 15 Prospects Ranking: 5th Current Value: Value Up The 34th overall pick of the 2011 draft, Goodwin signed for $3 million out of a Miami junior college. He’ll turn 22 in late 2012 so it’s a little surprising that he’s still in low-A ball after 57 games. The speedy outfielder is hitting .322 and has 43 walks compared...

After falling to Nationals, Mets not hitting panic button yet

By Ben Standig WASHINGTON – What's the difference between urgency, pressing and panic? That's something outfielder Jason Bay pondered in the Mets clubhouse following New York's latest loss. Unless they snap out of their current slump, the Mets could experience all three soon enough. Adam LaRoche smacked a two-run home run, Steve Lombardozzi had two RBIs and the...

The shot in his shoulder will reduce inflammation in his AC joint, and prevent him from feeling pain when he hits. Zimmerman said that the ability he regained after receiving the shot made him “happier,” and it has been making Nationals fans...
