Well, at least we know that Brandon McCarthy knows how to take a joke.

The Diamondbacks’ newest pitcher apparently took care of getting his license renewed over the holiday break. There was just one problem, though: The local DMV got its letters mixed up.

While McCarthy’s license correctly states that he’s 6-foot-7 and has hazel eyes (we think), the easy party — male or female — appears to have gotten adjusted during the renewal process. McCarthy’s wife, Amanda, was all over it.

Of all people to have such a mistake made on his driver’s license, though, Brandon McCarthy may be the guy. Last year, when he was involved in one of baseball’s scariest moments after being hit by a line drive, he bounced back by doing all kinds of joking, including some shenanigans his wife didn’t exactly approve of.

He may be able to have some fun with this one, too.

  • about the same as you
  • If he's in Arizona, why does he have a Texas license? I'm from Texas and that is a Texas license. Also, look in the upper corner. Right below "USA" is the state abbreviation "TX." Are we sure this is even for real.
  • Good question. My DL from Arizona has my pic in the lower right corner. Hmmmm.
  • Ummm...he's an Arizona Diamondback....doesn't mean he lives in Arizona, he may live in TX and therefore have a TX driver license
  • Where does it say he is in AZ? He PLAYS for them, but few ball players live off-season where they play ball. Too much moving around. Most pick a place they want to live, and that is where they keep their legal address. During the season they rent condos or bunk with a buddy who might live in that city year round.
  • It looks like a California Drivers License cause it looks like mine by the parts that are visible
  • Tax' are different in Texas. Check State Income Tax, also if your registering a vehicle in Arizona the plates cost more, so you keep it in Texas.

Brandon McCarthy’s new driver license lists him as being Female

Luis Gonzalez was better than you think

Luis Gonzalez has been persona non grata as a spoken name here in the Tasker household. There was that certain bloop hit in 2001 that ruined everything and ended a dynasty. He is used by some to refute the greatness of the great relief pitcher he hit that bloop against (as if). But that was a long time ago. It wasn't Gonzalez's fault that Torre brought the infield in. The...

Diamondbacks Rumors: Arizona Will Trade Justin Upton or Jason Kubel

Following the Arizona Diamondbacks surprise signing of free agent Cody Ross, outfielders Justin Upton and Jason Kubel are back on the trading block and “someone will go,” a source tells Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. They will surely be entertaining offers, and as one person familiar with their thinking put it, flat out, "Someone will go.'' The Diamondbacks...

Takashi Saito to Play Back in Japan

Former Major League reliever Takashi Saito will be pitching back in his home country next season.  The 42-year old probably could have found work in the Majors, but he decided to go back to Japan.  He played for the Arizona Diamondbacks last season. According to NPB Tracker, Saito's deal with Tahoko Rakuten wil officially be announced as early as today.  He is to make...

Diamondbacks might look to deal an outfielder

The Arizona Diamondbacks added to a strength by signing free agent outfielder Cody Ross, giving them -- at least for the time being -- six outfielders on a team that usually carries only four. The move appears to be a precursor to another trade, as the signing of right-hander Brandon McCarthy was the week before. Ross, who can play all three outfield positions, gives the D-backs...

Red Sox Rumors: Boston a Fit for Diamondbacks’ Justin Upton?

The Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks should pair up for a trade that would center on slugger Justin Upton, according to Jim Bowden of ESPN. Bowden’s proposed trade would send Upton to the Red Sox in exchange for prospects Xander Bogaerts, Matt Barnes and Brandon Jacobs. While the Diamondbacks were able to add a young shortstop in Didi Gregorius when...

“This, man, I was just jerking myself off.” An FJM retrospective

The Classical has put together an extended interview with Ken Tremendous, dak, and Junior chronicling the history of Fire Joe Morgan. My wife and I took a trip, I think, to Buenos Aires. And we were in the airport… we were getting on the plane and a guy came up to me and said, “Hey, I just want to tell you that I’m a big fan.” And I was like, “Oh, thank you.” And he...

WWE upset with Nancy Grace over Warrior death coverage

HLN Video Hey, remember when The Ultimate Warrior died and Nancy Grace brought on Diamond Dallas Page to openly suggest Warrior died from steroids, brought in totally unrelated doctor who said things like “anabolic steroids are probably used by 1% of Americans,” then put together a list of wrestlers who died young to suggest Owen Hart died from drugs? Yeah, turns out WWE wasn’t...

Report: Bucs 'prepared' to draft quarterback at No. 7

The NFL Draft season is busy for analysts and reporters. Many people have feelings on what a team will do while others claim to have sources that also feel what a team will do. Nothing is ever a “for sure” bet.  But several media members go around asking questions or are given information in which they piece together like a puzzle. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport is one that does that...

Roy Hibbert: ‘I was wrong’ to call out Pacers teammates

Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert says it what was wrong for him to criticize his teammates in late March. “You know, I think that I should’ve kept my frustrations to myself or just in the locker room,” Hibbert said on “ESPN First Take.” “I will admit that it wasn’t the best thing to do. I’ll learn from that, and I was wrong. There are better ways to handle that...

Colts reportedly won't allow Hakeem Nicks to wear No. 88

(Credit: BSO) Although the number 88 isn’t officially retired by the Indianapolis Colts, it appears nobody else will wear it again for the team. This includes recently signed wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who wore 88 with the New York Giants. 88 is a sacred number in Indy, as it belonged to the franchise’s all-time leading receiver Marvin Harrison, as well as Hall of Fame tight...
