Raw sewage backing up in clubhouse showers? Sounds like something the wretched Rachel Phelps would have unleashed on poor Lou Brown and co. in “Major League.” But instead it was a reality for the A’s and Mariners after Sunday afternoon’s game at the decrepit O.co Coliseum. Yes, after many previous analogous jokes, the Coliseum finally became an actual toilet.

During the matinee contest, the clubhouse level of the stadium began to flood when sewage apparently started seeping out of the shower drains. The cause was likely from stadium bathrooms being overusedby the game’s sellout crowd. It forced players from both teams to seek refuge together in the showers of the Raiders’ locker room, which is located on a different level of Coliseum. Here’s more from reporters at the likely disgusting, smelly, nightmare-inducing scene:

So, if it already wasn’t abundantly clear beforehand, Sunday’s lavatorial fiasco is enough proof as to why the A’s desperately need a new stadium. Like, really, really badly.

Tito: Chris Perez Likely To Pitch Sunday On Rehab Assignment

The Indians could soon have their closer back on the active roster. The Plain Dealer’s Jodie Valade was there as Tribe manager Terry Francona ran down the reports of currently injured players. “He did real well,” Francona said. “He didn’t command great, which I don’t think is a surprise because he hadn’t thrown off the mound much.” He added that Perez likely will...

Michael Brantley and the Wait ‘n See Approach

As surprising as the Indians off-season spending spree was, I still think the club’s basic strategy is unchanged: develop a young core of players internally and dip into free agency when you need it.  It just so happened that they needed a lot of help this past off-season, and there was a bit of a perfect storm of available money, available talent, and a protected draft pick....

CLEVELAND -- Every loss is supposed to count as one, but some sure feel like they count a lot more.So it was Saturday night with the Indians, who saw an excellent comeback turn into a crushing 7-6 defeat to the Washington Nationals. It was so crushing that manager Terry Francona called what happened in the top of the ninth inning heartbreaking, a rare use of an emotional word by the...

Indians' Nick Swisher out with shoulder issue

Earlier this season, Cleveland Indians slugger Nick Swisher was hampered by a sore left shoulder. It appears that the injury never fully healed, as he was given Sunday off to rest his shoulder, according to Mark Emery of MLB.com. Swisher aggravated his shoulder on Saturday while batting against Jordan Zimmermann. Manager Terry Francona deemed Swisher available for Sunday'...

Tribe Weekend Wrapup: A Ode To Corey Kluber

Could “Team Streak” be trending upwards again? Your Cleveland Indians were a blown save away from sweeping the Washington Nationals out of Progressive Field this weekend in grand fashion. Fishing for Mudcats: Fishing for Runs

First and foremost, Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there who are celebrating with your kids today. Well, some of us have to write a bit, but you get what I’m talking about. To those that spend even a few extra minutes to stop...

Indians Kluber Washington 2-0

Cleveland, OH — Corey Kluber escaped three no-out jams with no damage and the Cleveland offense provided just enough support, as the Indians beat the Nationals 2-0 to win the three-game series.   After a leadoff single by Anthony Rendon in the fourth, Ryan Zimmerman hit a ball to newly-acquired Indians third baseman John McDonald, who threw a double play ball past second baseman...

Rank Relief: Cleveland goes Cleveland

Shaw hides his face after Hosmer ties the game with a double The Cleveland Indians had been having a fairly nice year compared to expectations.  After today they are trailing the Royals by a half game.  It looked like Cleveland was in line for a win after Carlos Carrasco worked 7 shutout innings.  The 8th inning proved to be a little trickier.  After putting a man on second,...

Notes from the Wigwam: Tribe shows improvement

Slowly but surely, it appears as if the Cleveland Indians may be coming around. The Tribe went 4-2 during this past week and won two series against both the Texas Rangers and the Washington Nationals. While their record of 34-34 is still far from great, the Tribe is still just 4 ½ games behind the Detroit Tigers for first place in the American League Central. The key for the Indians...

Most college football fans and analysts expected South Carolina, coming off of a huge win over highly-ranked Georgia, to have no trouble taking care of Vanderbilt, which has struggled greatly this season under new head coach Derek Mason. But the Commodores raced out to a 14-0 lead on the road and gave the Gamecocks trouble all night. South Carolina eventually gained control of the...

Kansas football Twitter favorites 'fire Weis' tweet

There’s a decent sized contingent of Kansas football fans who want Charlie Weis to be fired.  The Jayhawks’ coach is 5-21 through two-plus seasons in Lawrence and is off to a 1-1 start this fall.  Kansas football’s official Twitter account is apparently in favor of Weis getting canned, too. The account favorited a tweet this afternoon that called for Weis to be fired.  ...
