PLAYERS: Brian Dozier
TEAMS: Minnesota Twins

From Bob's Blitz:

Minnesota Twins shortstop Brian Dozier showed us why you're supposed to run hard to first on any ball you hit. As you can see in the video above, Dozier literally hit a curveball during his 5th inning at-bat against the Royals on Saturday. His ball started off foul, but then went fair because it was hit with so much spin. Teammate Ryan Doumit was even able to score from second on the single.

After getting such a good break on that play, it's no surprise the Twins ended up winning 7-2.

  • watch the play again, the first baseman was not pulled off and the throw was on target, good hustle by mn
  • First baseman was not pulled off the bag and the catcher had to barehand the ball and flip it underhand. All would add up to a base hit NOT an error!

Cuddyer was not only Minnesota's most productive hitter in the first half of last season...

Major League balls have a short shelf-life

MINNEAPOLIS Two pitches. That was the life span of the first baseball used in Friday's game by Twins starter Brian Duensing. Minnesota's ball boy picked up the ball, taking it to its final resting place somewhere in the bowels of Target Field.Such is the life...
