New York Mets
WASHINGTON -- Danny Espinosa and Bryce Harper both homered, and starter Gio Gonzalez earned his 16th victory as the Washington Nationals scored a 5-2 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon. Gonzalez improved to 16-6, although he struggled at times during his 5 2/3 innings. He never got the side out in order and gave up one run on seven hits while needing 110 pitches. The left-hander now is tied with Johnny Cueto of Cincinnati for the most wins in the National League. Gonzalez got help from relievers Craig Stammen and Michael Gonzalez before Tyler Clippard closed it in the ninth for his 27th save. The game began after a rain delay of two hours, 26 minutes, and Washington (75-46) bounced back after the Mets blanked them Saturday night. This victory increased the Nationals' lead over the Braves to five games in the National League East, as Atlanta lost to Los Angeles earlier in the day. Washington took some pressure off Gonzalez with four early runs that the...

Washington Nationals rookie outfielder Bryce Harper shattered his bat after striking out during extra innings of Monday night's game against the Atlanta Braves.

It happened in the bottom of the 11th as Harper struck out against Braves pitcher Luis Avilan. It was the second time this month that Harper has shattered his bat after striking...
Washington Nationals rookie outfielder Bryce Harper held a free youth baseball clinic in Fairfax, Virginia on Thursday where he had some interesting (and unusual) advice for some of the future prospects in attendance: "Be as sexy as you can".
We don't know exactly what Harper meant by that (and we would love to hear him explain this one), but we're pretty...
So much for Bryce Harper learning his lesson the last time he smashed a bat on home plate in a mini-temper tantrum after striking out.
In the 11th inning last, Harper smashed another one after an inning-ending K with the potential winning run on first. Bam Bam Angry! Smash!

In my opinion this was the most impressive of all of Bryce Harper’s 12 career home runs. This is just one of those majestic, tape-measure shots that impales the facing of the upper deck. It again comes in a Nationals victory, 5-2 over the Mets.
The poor soul who gives this up is Jeremy Hefner. I would imagine that when a generational talent like Harper gets a fastball down the...
Michael Morse hit a grand slam, Bryce Harper also homered and the Washington Nationals became the latest team to tag a struggling Johan Santana in their 6-4 victory over the New York Mets on Friday night.
Ross Detwiler tossed six solid innings and the Nationals sent Santana to his fifth loss in the last five starts.
Handed a 2-0 lead, the two-time Cy Young Award winner was perfect...
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Chad Tracy singled in the 13th inning to score Danny Espinosa and lift the Washington Nationals to a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.
The win gives first-place Washington a six-game lead in the NL East, while Atlanta lost its third straight.
Ian Desmond led off the 13th with an infield single off Cristhian Martinez (5-3) before Espinosa tried...
Ever since they were called up to the big leagues on the same day in April, Mike Trout and Bryce Harper have been linked. And while both players have garnered their fair share of media attention, Trout's production has far surpassed that of the 19-year-old Harper. Trout leads the American League in batting average and steals and ranks in the top three in on-base and slugging...
