Byrdak ailing, Mets considering C.J. Nitkowski on a minor league deal

With lefthander Tim Byrdak continuing to experience stiffness in his left knee , it seems that adding a little depth in the way of a lefty reliever is a likely move for the New York Mets.  According to Ken Davidoff of Newsday: Photo by Michael G. Baron Byrdak, the Mets’ best southpaw in the bullpen, said his knee has been bothering him since before spring training and that treatment...

There’s A Problem Rearing Its Ugly Head In The Mets Outfield

I love baseball and watching today’s Mets game on WPIX only served to remind me of how much I really dig this game, even when the games don’t count in the standings yet. After reading so much about Johan Santana‘s progress, what a thrill it was to see him firing strikes at will today against the Miami Marlins. Fastballs, changeups, sliders… he threw everything, but the...

Here's a custom RG3 Nationals jersey. But can he pitch?

Now that the Redskins are in position to draft Robert Griffin III, it begs the question: When RG3 is eventually invited by the Washington Nationals to throw out the first pitch before a game at Nationals Park, will he fare better than John Wall did? Until then, here's a potential custom RG3 Nationals jersey he can wear for the event (via Nationals team shop on ...

Mets Say Wright Could Be Out Another Week

This is not good… David Wright will not return until next weekend at the earliest as he continues to experience left rib-cage soreness. Wright has yet to appear in any Grapefruit League games and since he’s been sidelined with this injury he has yet to swing a bat. Team doctor Struan Coleman is expected to examine Wright in Port St. Lucie this weekend before Wright is cleared...

Mets Jambalinka: Mike Pelfrey, Daniel Herrera, Brandon Nimmo

What was it that Andy told the warden in The Shawshank Redemption – I think it was – how could you be so oblique? That comment got him sent to solitary. Right now Scott Hairston, David Wright and Kirk Nieuwenhuis are in baseball’s solitary, as they are all out with oblique injuries. I think I’ve learned more anatomy following baseball than I ever did in school. Anyway...

#FUPhilly promo takes a horrible turn with "I'm on a boat" parody song

Hoo boy. Move over "Welcome Home Nationals" fight song, it's "I'm At The Park", a parody of "I'm on a boat", which has apparently been entered in 106.7 The Fan's #FUPhilly promo contest. There are no words. It's a hit with Phillies fans, of course. Befriend the Nats Enquirer on Facebook. Follow us on Twitter.

Truth And Authenticity? You've Come To The Right Place

I got a guy. This guy, among other things, hands me books every so often. A lot of these books are acquired before their release. I don't know how he gets them, and I don't ask because it's really none of my business. Most of the books he hands me are sports related books, and the same good intentions that roads are paved with are the ones that I have in terms of reading...

Strasburg gives up 2 runs in Nats' loss to Marlins

One rusty inning proved costly to Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals in a 3-0 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday night. Strasburg allowed two runs on three hits in three innings in his second start, with all the damage coming in the third inning. He struck out two, walked a batter and hit another. Left-hander Wade LeBlanc was sharp for the Marlins in his first start...

The Miami Marlins (5-2) beat the New York Mets (3-5) by the score of 4 to 2 in a rain-shortened five inning game at Digital Domain Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Santana was good, Rauch was not: Johan Santana was the starting pitcher for the Mets today. He allowed two hits and zero earned runs (one unearned), while striking out two and walking one in 2 2/3 innings pitched. Santana’s...
