Found August 19, 2013 on Fox Sports:
The Washington Nationals have acquired outfielder David DeJesus in a trade with the Chicago Cubs. The deal bolsters Washington's bench as it tries to make an improbable late run for a playoff spot. Coming into the day, the Nationals trailed Cincinnati by 9 1/2 games for the NL's second wild-card slot. The Cubs receive a player to be named. They also save about $2.5 million, including $1.5 million to buy out a 2014 option for $6.5 million. The 33-year-old DeJesus is batting .250 with six homers and 27 RBIs in 84 games. He didn't have to go far to join his new team, with Washington opening a four-game series at Chicago on Monday night. The Cubs activated outfielder Brian Bogusevic from the 15-day disabled list to take DeJesus' roster spot, while the Nationals released outfielder Roger Bernardina.

Nationals trade for David DeJesus, then put him on waivers

The MLB trade deadline always generates much fanfare as teams try to shore up some roster holes for the stretch run, or sell off some pieces to begin a rebuilding process. While the non-waiver deadline passed on July 31, teams can still make trades, provided the player(s) in question clears waivers. Essentially, if a team wishes to trade a player after July 31, they place him on...

David DeJesus’ wife posts heartbreaking tweet after he’s traded from Cubs

When the David DeJesus signed a two-year deal with the Chicago Cubs in November, 2011, no one was happier about it than his wife, Kim. Kim grew up about 45 minutes away from Wrigley Field in Wheaton, Ill., so it was a welcome return to her old stomping grounds. That’s why Kim was particularly devastated […]The post David DeJesus’ wife posts heartbreaking tweet after he’s...

Nats Placed DeJesus On Waivers After Acquiring Him

The Washington Nationals might not want outfielder David DeJesus after all. The Nats placed DeJesus on revocable trade waivers almost immediately after acquiring him from the Chicago Cubs on Monday according to major league sources. The move by the Nationals could indicate that the team does not want to assume the remaining financial obligation to DeJesus which amounts to about...

David DeJesus upgrades Washington Nationals bench this year and next

Though the Washington Nationals stayed quiet at the non-waiver trade deadline, General Manager Mike Rizzo decided to make a move via waivers in August. He added former Chicago Cubs outfielder David DeJesus for a player to be named later. DeJesus is an immediate upgrade at fourth outfielder over Roger Bernadina, who was released after the acquisition of DeJesus on Monday. DeJesus...

DeJesus Traded

The Cubs have traded outfielder David DeJesus to the Washington Nationals for a player to be named later....hopefully one that can do as well as what the Cubs got for Scott Hairston. Since joining the Daytona Cubs, Ivan Pineyro has a 3.18 ERA in 6 starts over 34 IP, giving up just 1 HR, 4 BB's and striking out 27. A bit of a surprise move, moreso that the Nationals are still...

Nats acquire OF DeJesus from Cubs

The Washington Nationals on Monday acquired outfielder David DeJesus from the Chicago Cubs on Monday after claiming him on waivers, according to a major-league source. The Cubs were willing to make the trade for a player to be named rather than pull back DeJesus from waivers because the deal will save them about $2.5 million. In addition, outfielders Brian Bogusevic and Ryan Sweeney...

Nationals acquire David DeJesus for whatever reason

The Washington Nationals have acquired outfielder David DeJesus from the Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later, and in a corresponding move, have released outfielder Roger Bernadina. The 33-year old DeJesus is a pretty solid player, yet this trade makes no sense to me from Washington's point of view. Bryce Harper has an outfield spot locked down for years in DC...

Cubs trade DeJesus, break out of offensive funk

The Cubs hope saving about $2.5 million after trading David DeJesus to the Nationals is only part of their latest look toward the future. For starters the dealing of DeJesus for a player to be named will give other players a chance to prove they can help revamp a stagnant offense. "The biggest thing is figuring things out offensively" general manager Jed Hoyer said Monday...

Nationals trade for and then waive David DeJesus

The month of August is always a strange one with waiver wire moves. Once a player is claimed a team can pull the player back and keep them, trade him to the claiming team or simply dumped on that club. I have a feeling the Chicago Cubs simply dumped David DeJesus on the Washington Nationals this weekend. The reason being the Nationals placed him right back on waivers after the...
