Nats activate Wells, send Bergmann down

Right-hander Kip Wells has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Washington Nationals, who optioned right-hander Jason Bergmann to Triple-A Syracuse. Wells, 0-2 with a 6.26 ERA and two saves in 19 appearances for the Nationals, went on the disabled list May 31 with a right adductor strain, a move retroactive to May 31. Bergmann is 0-1 with a 6.91 ERA in 14 games. The Nationals play at the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.
