Given the success the Washington Nationals have had in building their minor league system over the past six years, the Nationals were a popular target for the Rule V Draft today.  The National lost 4 prospects in the Rule V Draft and did not make any selections.  The following Nats prospects are gone via the draft. P Jack McGeary:  McGeary was selected by the Nationals in the the 6th round of the 2007 MLB Draft.  They spent alot of money to sign McGeary, but lost McGeary to ulnar nerve surgery in his elbow.  He hasn't been the same since.  He finished the 2012 season in Short A and had an ERA of 6.75. IF Jeff Kobernus:  Kobernus was selcted by the Boston Red Sox.  Kobernus hit .282 with 42 stolen bases for Harrisburg (AAA) last season.   P Daniel Rosenbaum:  This is a loss that is upsetting to me.  Rosenbaum has been a solid pitcher in the Nationals system since being drafted.  He struggled in the second half of his AA season last year, but overall, has put up pr...

Washington Nationals Top 15 Prospects (2012-13)

The Washington Nationals system has been weakened by trades and promotions in recent years but the organization still has some interesting prospects in the system. A Tribute To Brad Lidge, The Perfect Closer

The closer is one of the most pressure-packed positions in all of sports. The Mariano Riveras and Trevor Hoffmans of the world are the exception to the rule. They’ve made the closer position look effortless, sustaining excellence for nearly their entire careers. But the life of the mere mortal closers is one of wildly successful [...]The post A Tribute To Brad Lidge, The Perfect...

Nationals Add Dan Haren to Stacked Rotation

The Washington Nationals have agreed to terms with free agent pitcher Dan Haren on a one-year contract reportedly worth $13 million.
