Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) got a 9-0 shutout last night. Shairon Martis (6-5) pitched 7 shutout innings scattering 6 hits and striking out 4. Atahaulpha Severino and Jason Bergmann completed the shutout with a scoreless inning of relief. Justin Maxwell had a big night, going 3 for 4, hitting two doubles and his 6th home run. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 runs. He raised his batting average to .296. Leonard Davis hit his 8th AAA home run, his 13thoverall on the season. Jason Botts and Peter Orr each had 2 hits. Botts has raised his average to .341.
Harrisburg Senators (AA) won 9-7. Aaron Thompson allowed 5 hits and 3 runs over 6.1 innings. Adam Carr pitched a scoreless 9th to earn his 2ndsave. Chris Marrero was 2-4 and smacked his 12thhome run. He drove in 4 runs. He is batting .291. Marvin Lowrance was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 runs and an RBi.
Potomac Nationals (A) won 7-4. Jordan Zimmerman, in his second appearance on rehab from late season ending Tommy John surgery, pitched 3 scoreless innings, allowed just 1 hit and struck out 5. Adrian Alaniz (4-3) picked up a well deserved win, pitching 5 shutout innings in relief of Zimmerman, not allowing any hits, and striking out 8. he lowered his ERA to 2.76. Dan Leatherman picked up his 6thsave. Josh Johnson was 2 for 4 with 2 runs. Michael burgess went 4 for 5, his his 8thhome run, and drove in 5 runs. He now has 60 RBIU leading the Nationals minor league system. Bill Rhinehart and Tyler Moore each had 2 hits.
Hagerstown Suns (A) won 6-5. Daniel Rosenbaum allowed 11 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 7 in 6.1 innings. Reliver Rob Wort (3-0) picked up the win allowing just 1 hit and striking out 5 over three innings. On the season, Wort is 3-0 with 6 saves and a 2.86 ERA. Dean Weaver picked up his 12thsave. Francisco Soriano doubled and scored twice. Steve Souza his his 11thhome run. Deston Hood, JP Ramirez, and Marcus Jones each had 2 hits. Eury Perez for the second consecutive night went 3 for 4.
Vermont Lake Monsters (Short A) lost 6-5. Bobby Hansen allowed 5 hits and 3 runs with 4 walks over 4.2 innings. Dustin Crane (1-1) took the loss, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs in .2 innings. Blake Kelso went 2-5. he is batting .358. Russell Moldenhauer homered again, his 5th already. On the season, he is 6 for 27 and 5 of his 6 hits are home runs. Justin Miller doubled and went 2 for 4.
