Late last week, the Tigers acquired 23-year old Jose Iglesias in a three-way trade with Boston and Chicago. With Jhonny Peralta expected to begin a 50-game suspension on Monday, Iglesias will man the shortstop role going forward. And since Peralta is a free agent at the end of this year, the job is Iglesias’ for the foreseeable future. Despite hitting .323 thus far on the season, Iglesias is known as a defensive whiz. Some have compared him to the greatest two defensive shortstops of all-time – Ozzie Smith and Omar Vizquel.
