With left fielder Brett Gardner likely out the rest of the season and the July 31st trade deadline quickly approaching, the New York Yankees "are in on everybody", Jon Heyman of CBS Sports has reported. Among the outfielders the Yankees have asked about are Shane Victorino, Denard Span, and Justin Upton.

Victorino is batting .254 with eight home runs, 38 RBI, and 21 stolen bases this season for the Philadelphia Phillies. Philadelphia's primary focus right now is signing starter Cole Hamels to a long-term deal, but could turn their attention to trading the 31 year-old center fielder, who will be a free agent after the season, once a deal with Hamels is finalized.

Span is batting .276 with three home runs, and 30 RBI for the Minnesota Twins this season. The Twins are open to the idea of trading the 28 year-old center fielder, but Span's price tag is too high for Yankees general manager Brian Cashman right now.

Upton is batting .274 with eight home runs and 41 RBI this season for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks are willing to trade him before the deadline, but their high asking price makes an offseason trade much more likely. Upton has not performed  to his expectations this year, but is just 24 years old and batted .289 with 31 home runs last season.

The Yankees would like to acquire another outfielder, but are satisfied with the production that Raul Ibanez, Andruw Jones, and Dewayne Wise have given them while platooning in left field, so the team will not overpay in a deadline deal. However, the Yankees do not want Ibanez and Jones, who were expected to have limited roles playing in the outfield this season, wearing down before the postseason.

Yankees left fielders have combined to bat .234 with 16 home runs and 45 RBI this year.
