Far from a star, Chris Dickerson could still provide value to the New York Yankees.
The marriage between the New York Yankees and Sergio Mitre has come to an end as the latter has been shipped to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for OF Chris Dickerson. The Brewers were in need of some pitching depth in the wake of Zack Greinke’s cracked rib that will keep him on the shelf for the early part of the season.
Chris Dickerson, 29 on April 10th, probably won’t be a big impact player for the Yankees, but I like the acquisition. Dickerson possesses solid tools to go along with his 6’3″ 228 lb frame – good speed, defense, some pop from the left side – and he could provide some valuable depth in the outfield. He also has solid on-base skills evidenced by his .356 OBP in 454 career MLB at-bats. My guess is that he slots ahead of Greg Golson and Justin Maxwell on the organizational depth chart.
