The Triple-A Indianapolis Indians clinched their division on Thursday night–congratulations to them on a great season. A few players tweeted pictures of the celebration in the clubhouse:

Notice something about that second one? That’s Daniel McCutchen, of course, celebrating with the Indians. Which is great, except that he’s still on the Pirates’ active roster at the moment. PG beat writer Michael Sanserino explained that Jordy Mercer will be activated from his paternity leave before Friday’s game, so he’ll presumably be the one taking McCutchen’s spot on the active roster.

In other news, Juan Cruz cleared waivers (he was DFA a few days ago) but refused his assignment to AAA and was released. The Pirates clearly weren’t interested in keeping him, which wouldn’t really bother me if they’d just get rid of Chad Qualls. I’d rather have Cruz around than Qualls.
