Jon Niese was just removed from the game in the third inning with an apparent shoulder injury. He was replaced by David Aardsma.
With a look of obvious pain, he motioned to the Mets dugout for the trainers to come out, pointed to his shoulder, and within a minute they all walked off the mound.
Niese has been bothered recently by what the team labeled shoulder tendinitis.
Losing Niese for any stretch of time would be a big blow to the team, especially as the only lefthander in the rotation.
We’ll let you know the official word from the Mets once we get it.
