Jon Niese was just removed from the game in the fourth inning with an apparent shoulder injury. He was replaced by David Aardsma.
After throwing his 61st pitch of the game, Niece winced in pain. He then motioned to the Mets dugout for the trainers to come out, pointed to his shoulder, and within a minute they all walked off the mound.
Niese has been bothered recently by what the team labeled shoulder tendinitis.
Losing Niese for any stretch of time would be a big blow to the team, especially as the only lefthander in the rotation.
Jon Heyman first reported that Niese is saying it’s just a recurrence of the shoulder tendinitis. Mets later announced that Niese is suffering from “left shoulder discomfort.”
I say, give him an MRI and pray.
