There is an old saying that I have heard many times throughout my life. That saying is, a good deal is one in which neither party is happy. That is the case with the Chicago Cubs desire to increase the number of night games they are allowed to play to their schedule. Today, the Chicago City Council officially approved the Chicago Cubs plan to add more night games to their yearly schedule. With winning the vote, they are now able to host up to 46 night games a year. While this is not as many as they would have liked, they are still able to host more than the 30 they are currently allowed to host. Even though they are able to host up to 46 night games a year, and that does seems like a lot compared to years past, keep in mind that the Major League average for teams is a whopping 54 night games, which is eight games more than the maximum number the Cubs are allowed to host. I am sure that Tom Ricketts would have like to get a number closer to the Major League average, but I assume he w...

Starlin Castro still confident despite performance and being dropped to 7th

Yesterday Starlin Castro was dropped to 7th in the order because he had pretty much sucked for the last week. He's been pretty sucky at the plate all season for that matter. Despite that suckiness, Castro remains confident he'll get back on track. "It's a little bit tough in the beginning right now," Castro said. "I know it won't be like that for a...

Cubs Draftee Profile: Kris Bryant

Welp, that was a bit of a surprise. As had been predicted by a few folks (notably, Aisle424), the Cubs passed over one of the big college arms and selected Kris Bryant at #2 overall. I think we can be more confident in their candidness regarding their preference for position players over pitchers in general in the draft. Unfortunately, we can't know now whether they preferred...

Cubs beat Angels with clutch double in extra innings

Garza starting against the LA Angels on June 7, 2013 This year the Cubs are a team that has been a thorn in the side of many. In years past most fans loved it when the Cubs would come to town because it usually meant a win for their team. Nowadays, the Cubs are a better team all around. They have stronger pitching with pitchers who can give six to seven strong innings, and their batters...

Cubs rumors: Chicago likely to sell

The Chicago Cubs are expected to be among the teams selling as the trade deadline approaches. This belief was backed yesterday by the comments of general manager Jed Hoyer, who hinted to Buster Olney of ESPN that players in the final year of their contract will be the most likely to be dealt. "If you are in a situation where you're not going to compete that year, and...

It's Draft Day, Cub Fans. Theo Epstein: please be on your game.

The most important thing that will happen today in sports has nothing to do with the Blackhawks or Duncan Keith's suspension or creepy sleazebag living Ped Dispenser Tony Bosch (hey that would make a good drawing) or anything to do with LBJ and the Heat. It's draft day.Theo Epstein, this is your day.Today is why we're all sitting around watching these couple summers of...

Cubs 8, Angels 6(10)

Anthony Rizzo hit a three-run double in the 10th inning and the Chicago Cubs overcame a pair of homers by Mark Trumbo to beat the Los Angeles Angels 8-6 Wednesday. Cody Ransom added a three-run homer for the Cubs. Rookie Robert Coello (3-2) walked Dioner Navarro with one out in the Cubs' 10th and Darwin Barney singled with two outs. Barney advanced on catcher's indifference...

Yeah, I got nothin’…

In between the Cubs’ bullpen failing, the Cubs’ offense forgetting how to score when there are runners on with no outs, and Anthony Rizzo‘s less-than-enthusiastic Chevy commercial on WGN radio, I really don’t have much to say.  Tomorrow is an off day and I’m going to be bored without actual Cubs baseball to discuss.  Thank goodness for the MLB Draft which starts that...
