The Yankees could have made major headway in the AL East this week. With a pair of games each against the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays, this was their chance to pick up some games on their competition. Instead, they head home in shambles as they prepare to open the interleague portion of their schedule. Last night, Drew Hutchison became the latest first-timer to put the Yankees bats on lockdown, and the Bombers were sent back across the border with a 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays. Their third consecutive loss was their third straight offensive struggle. Hutchison allowed just the one run on five hits and four walks over the course of six innings. The Yankees had no trouble putting men on; their issues came down to an inability to get those runners home. They went 0-8 with runners in scoring position, which indicates, again, that these offensive struggles are more a matter of circumstance than inability.
