There’s been no progress regarding new extensions with David Wright and R.A. Dickey since they had their options picked up last week. Some reports said that negotiations were at a standstill last week, but today Andy McCullough of the Star-Ledger reports that the Mets are not close to reaching new agreements with either Wright or Dickey, according to a one person with knowledge of the discussions. This is starting to take on a very familiar feeling. I’m also starting to hate the phrase “top priority” and cringe whenever I hear someone in the front office use it.
