The Athletics made a pair of roster moves Saturday afternoon, activating outfielder Chris Young from the 15-day disabled list and designating first baseman Daric Barton for assignment to make room on the 25-man roster.
Prior to going on the disabled list on May 4 (retroactive to April 30), Young had been batting .172 with 15 RBI in 23 games with the A’s. Ten of his 15 hits are for extra bases, including five doubles, one triple and four home runs.
Young went 1-for-1 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base while starting in center field in his only rehab game with Sacramento against Oklahoma City on Thursday. He was with the A’s on Friday and put on an impressive power display during batting practice prior to being activated for Saturday’s game.
Barton, batting .143 with a homer and three RBIs in eight games, was selected from Sacramento on May 8 and added to the 40-man roster as well as the 25-man roster. His designation opens a spot on the 40-man roster.

An Oakland A's fan in the right field stands displayed impressive skills with the glove he brought to the O.co Coliseum when he snagged a foul liner by Coco Crisp in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Royals.
Someone get that fan a contract.

Start believing the hype on Oakland A’s top prospect center fielder, Michael Choice. Currently batting .284, with 8 HRs, 34 RBIs, a .393 OBP, and a .872 OPS, he has the makings of being a really good Major League ballplayer. He hits for power, as he is second in the Pacific Coast League in HRs, and possesses a good batters eye, having an almost 1:1 K/BB ratio this season at...
The Oakland Athletics have recalled Hideki Okajima from their Triple-A Sacramento minor league affiliate. The left-handed reliever is expected to be another arm in the bullpen. Reliever Chris Resop on the other hand didn’t have as good of a day, as he was designated for assignment by Oakland. The Kansas City Royals were in town to take on the Oakland Athletics, but this A's fan stole the show. The dude makes a great catch on a foul ball.
The A’s fell behing early Sunday afternoon, just as they had the previous two games, and for the third time in a row came back to beat Kansas City by a single run.
A.J. Griffin and a strong bullpen performance kept the A’s in the game, but it was a line-drive home run in the eighth inning off the bat of Yoenis Cespedes that was the deciding factor of the 4-3 victory.
