Yes, you read the header correctly folks. The Athletics are looking stronger by the day. Personally, i think the hype started after they swept the Yanks at home earlier last month. The A's are as their website says a "Green Collar" baseball team. I believe that statement suites them well. Here is why. 1. The A's lead the MLB in walkoff wins this season. 2. The A's have one of the deepest pitching staffs in all of baseball, and did i mention YOUNG pitching. 3. Name three players on the team. That's right. The A's are a team of nobodys and in reference to the film Moneyball "An island of misfit toys." This does not mean the Athletics are to be under valued and under appreciated. The team is for real. Reddick and Cespedes as well as veteran Johnny Gomes and pitching from Bartolo Colon are the foundation of how nasty this club really is. The chemistry this season is undeniable. After last night and taking the series from Anaheim, the Athletics have a fairly winnable road ahead facing teams like Kansas City, Chicago, and the Indians. A lot of people wondered about Billy Beane's process at the trade deadline this year. I believe Billy saw great chemistry and believes in this team. I personally see these guys snagging that second wild card slot this year. Time will tell. In the mean time this gives us fans something to enjoy and really root for! So that, for what it's worth is my take on it. GO A's!

McCarthy has a 2.54 ERA this season but has pitched only 78 innings. He worked six scoreless innings in his most recent rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento, threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday and is on track to start Friday...

A's reinstate McCarthy

The Oakland Athletics have reinstated starter Brandon McCarthy from the 15-day disabled list and placed infielder Eric Sogard on it with a strained back, retroactive to Tuesday. McCarthy is 6-3 with a 2.54 ERA in 12 games this...

Bartolo Colon’s Streak Without An Earned Run

On Tuesday evening, 39-year-old Bartolo Colon handcuffed the Los Angeles Angels for seven innings, only surrendering a single unearned run in his final inning of work. Although that unearned run ended his consecutive scoreless inning streak at 22.1 innings, he does currently maintain a streak of 22.2 innings without surrendering an earned run. The last earned run given up by the...

A's resting pitchers for stretch run

With an eye toward keeping their young pitchers fresh for the stretch drive, the A's are having left- handed Travis Blackley make a spot start on Saturday at Chicago and pushing back rookies Jarrod Parker and Tommy Milone, and also right-hander Dan Straily, who came up just a week ago. Blackley, relegated to the bullpen when Straily joined the club, did good work when in...

Coco Crisp robs Kendrys Morales of HR

This catch might not receive as much publicity as Roger Bernadina's fabulous one from earlier in the evening yesterday, but it was still just as good. In the ninth inning of a 10-2 game, Kendrys Morales of the Angels crushed a ball deep to center field. A's outfielder Coco Crisp immediately began tracking the ball, and at the last possible moment, made an effortless-looking...

Cespedes, Carter help A's edge out Angels

OAKLAND, Calif. -- When it's a warm day game, balls fly out of the Oakland Coliseum as easily as they would in Coors Field. But it was the Oakland Athletics who got the clutch base hits that made the difference. Yoenis Cespedes hit the go-ahead two-run single and Chris Carter added a two-run homer in the sixth inning for the A's, who edged the Los Angeles Angels 9-8 on...

McCarthy Is Pretty In Oak

The other day I got an email saying I have a financial windfall coming to me from a deceased relative in Nigerian that I didn’t know.  So I don’t even need to be doling out fantasy advice anymore.  Take the thirty-seven cents I made yesterday from this site and shove it!  I don’t need any of youse.  I got dead Nigerian uncles!  But, just in case, my Nigerian uncle’s...
