Oakland Athletics' All-Star Has Hilarious Reaction on Social Media to George Kirby's Knuckleball
USA TODAY Sports

The last day of the season provided some levity for a pair of teams not heading to the Major League playoffs.

On Sunday, Seattle Mariners' pitcher George Kirby went viral for throwing a nasty knuckleball against Texas Rangers' All-Star Corey Seager. It was the first knuckleball of the season that Kirby has thrown and certainly looks good enough to break out again.

Well, this seems to be putting some real fear into other American League hitters, namely All-Star slugger Brent Rooker of the Oakland Athletics.

I’m sorry when did he learn this, he posted on social media platform "X."

Kirby already can hit 98 MPH with a nasty splitter and a good slider and curveball, so it's easy to see why hitters wouldn't like the idea of him adding something else to his arsenal.

Although if anyone could hit it, maybe it's the 28-year-old Rooker, who had a breakout season for Oakland this year. He made the All-Star team and hit .246 with 30 home runs and 69 RBI. He also posted a .817 OPS.

He just wrapped up his fourth Major League season with the Twins, Padres, Royals and A's. He played 137 games this season, which was more than he had played the previous three years combined.

As for Kirby, he also made the All-Star team this year, finishing the year at 13-10 for Seattle.

Given that both players are in the same division, they are likely to see each other several times in 2024.

We'll see if Kirby busts out his newest weapon in those meetings...
