Josh Reddick homers during Saturday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays Josh Reddick has finally overcome his season-long slump. After going hitless for the past 20 at-bats, Reddick was finally able to let loose. During the first game of the series against the Toronto Blue Jays, Reddick blasted three home runs – two to right field and one two left – during three consecutive at-bats. Even the Blue Jays fans cheering for Reddick and his home run success. The Oakland Athletics won the game 14-6 with the help of Reddick as well as Jed Lowrie and Yoenis Cespedes who also homered during Friday night’s ballgame. These home runs must have felt good for this left-handed hitter especially since his numbers were way below his normal average. This season, Reddick only had five home runs and 37 RBI before Friday night’s game. Compare this to last years club-leading numbers of 32 homers and 87 RBI, it is clear that this is a disappointing season for Reddick. Even though Reddick had great success on Friday night, he was moved from seventh to eighth in the Athletics lineup for Saturday’s day game against the Blue Jays. However, this did not shake Reddick’s new found confidence and he earned himself two hits and two more home runs. Even though the Reddick helped the Athletics by homering in the 9th inning, the A’s could not drive in the two more runs they needed to win. The Oakland Athletics lost to the Blue Jays 4-5 on Saturday afternoon, which knocks them out the AL West lead. The A’s are now a half a game behind the Texas Rangers. If Reddick had been able to hit just one more home run on Friday night, he would have become the 17th player in MLB history to hit four home runs in one game. Even though he was not able to make MLB history, he is only the sixth player this season to hit three home runs in one game. Let’s hope his home run luck continues as the Oakland Athletics finish out the series against the Blue Jays this weekend.
